i have a small server i have my "project" website on and would like to know how to setup a name server. my issue is i have a name registered at godaddy and i can point the ip to my box(forwarding) here but it only shows up for the main page and as soon as i browse to another page the address bar shows up as httP://my-ip-here/subpages
basicly, how do i setup nameserver on my local machine?
please and thank you.
i should mention i DO NOT have a control panel installed, otherwise i would have use the many tutorials for cpanel and the like.
You can solve this problem without running a name server. Just configure your web server name to "www.yourdomain.com". I'm assuming that right now this is set to your IP, or is not set and is defaulting to your IP. When the web server returns the result it includes the server name from its configuration and your browser rewrites the address bar. If set properly, this should work fine.
You can also hard code your URL into your links, but that's probably not the most elegant solution.
