help me with this guys
i am trying to restore backup from my old server using the shel
i get this error when i use :
mysqldump -uxxxxx -pxxxxx db >db.sql
ERROR 1064 at line 20: You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1' at line 6
add --quote-names to your mysqldump
you could try removing the whole CHARSET variable. Unless you are using anything other than the default 'latin1', it shouldn't matter.
I think this is caused by a confict of versions of MySQL - earlier versions didn't accept the CHARSET???
That doesn't look like a restore, it looks like you're creating the backup?
Are you trying to copy the data from a 4.1 to a pre 4.1 install? That could possibly mess up the DEFAULT CHARSET statement.
I think its a problem with the MYSQL as i read in some forums , i think the version i have is older from the old one , i wish i can know the way to update my mysql
