Those are just if you want a domain with and ending that says something about the domain e.g. computing.jobs will be about computing jobs and england.travel will be good for traveling to england etc.

I personally see no point in them.

Marketing. People saw an idea for these & hoped that these TLDs would be offered.

Personally, I still prefer the .com, .net, and .org myself.

Yeah, .com, .net, and .org are still probably better.

But those names are for specific purposes, as mentioned by Bakie

.cc (like all two-letter extensions) is a country code. It belongs to the Cocos (Keeling) Islands - though you wouldn't guess that by looking at their web site!

    Do you mean www.nic.cc and www.enic.cc ?

It's a Verisign company. That may have influenced their website

Just like Tuvalu, the Cocos (Keeling) Islands have sold out to Verisign. They were allocated an attractive two-letter ISO code so decided to strike a deal with a modern-day colonial power to sell domains. Doesn't mean that Verisign owns either .cc or .tv - they are ISO codes and ISO codes are not for sale.

.cc and .name are real domains approved by ICANN and can be accessed by everybody.

.travel is a new.net extensions which is not really a domain and really can’t be used for anything. The new.net domains are actually sub domains of new.net for example cheap.travel is really cheap.travel.new.net

.travel and .jobs are real domains recently approved by ICANN and sponsored by the travel and human resource industries. Only accredited members of the travel industry and the Human Resource industry can apply for the respective TLDs.

New.net domains are really really problematic. I prefer to stick to .com / .net / .org
