    zipcode and city db

    I was wondering if there is any free source for zipcode, cities, and states in the US.

    it would be great to have this info ready to be used for my script.

    Thanks!

    While not quite free, ZipCodeDownload is pretty cheap for just the basic city/state/zip info at $19.95:

    http://www.zipcodedownload.com

    We've used it before for zip code lookups as well as sales tax preparation for e-commerce applications; the data is of good quality. You can also get more info (county, area codes, etc.) if need be by springing for a higher priced package, and they also have subscription plans with updates available monthly. Those are all obviously more money, but they're still pretty cheap compared to many of the other zip code data options out there.

    I am working on an open source version, so it might take a while to set it up..

    As a matter of fact I might just give you the dumb, well check thou..

    Which you mind telling me which script it is?

    combining the sources from error404 and azizny will give me what I needed. Thanks azizny!

    --> zipcodes
    --> now, I got the distances ..which is very helpful. I have seen some applications which ask you to search store locations near a certain given zipcode. From what you guys provided, this becomes easier now Thanks again.
