mail() php function doesn't work...
I've just purchased a new VPS and it seems the mail() php function doesn't work or something like that as any forms that are submitted don't get emailed.
The wierd thing is I have an address on another account on the server and when the form is set to it will email the form results to that addy. But when I set it to email to an address such as an @aol.com or @hotmail.com they don't receive any email...
Any suggestions ?

run a report at
and tell us if there are any problems, especially those related to lame nameservers, missing nameservers, and reverse dns issues. www.dnsreport.com
I use to have this problem too, and tracked it down to reverse dns problems. I have since fixed them (as you can see ). here
If it is reverse dns, then you need to contact your web host since they are usually the only ones that can do this for you.
You can view my report at http://www.dnsreport.com/tools/dnsre...thosting.co.uk
I'd be grateful if you could have a look and tell me if you see the probs and how I can correct them... :-)
also looks as if you may not have MX record set up in your zone file,
i.e. you could add the two lines:
mail 14400 IN A 184.108.40.206
webdirecthosting.co.uk. 14400 IN MX 10 mail
and then restart bind
Have you checked up the configuration file for php and apache?
It holds the key. I hope this does give you the hint.. else just PM me or mail me at [email protected]
