I have been in business for over a year now but the problem with me is the Advertising for the Business. I need to know how to advertise. I know it might be stupid asking after a year but I really still don't know how to advertise my Dedicated servers and Web Hosting plans. When I started fresh.. I went crazy advertising on google adwords and ended up flushing $6000 for few customers. Please advise me on how to and where to advertise my Business.
Im just going to copy and paste what i wrote in the thread right above this..
The best way is what works best for your company. What works for me may not work for you and vise versa. My suggestion is to try as many "vehicles" as possible in a limited capacity but long enough to get enough information about the ROI.
Also if you do a search of the forum (the running a web hosting business one no then entire forum) for threads about advertising you will come up with numerous results and input.
Advertising can have such a broad spectrum of areas that your really going to have to narrow it down to what your looking to do and who you want to do it too...
Before going for an advertisement one should have to exercise many factors like survey of other webhosting providers who are on advertisement, the rating of the advertising agency, selection of proper vehicle, the cost of the advertisement and approx ROI after meeting the advertising cost.
It require continuous planning, monitoring, research and analysis even after boarding on an advertisement.
To begin the research process, determine what markets you would like to target and then survey them to find out what their needs and wants are. Make sure your service fulfills their needs and market your service by showing them how it does this.
Advertising in local newspapers would be a good option as you can get good customers from local market and they will be your life long customers if you give them good service. I've seen some hosts getting highly paying customers from local market as the customers had no knowledge of hosting market or the actual prices of dedicated servers and they have continued to pay big amount for servers.
You have to decide your prices for local market but the local market is the first thing to make your business secure.
If you do target local, you generally need to offer value added services such as website design, or at minimum, a website builder.
An ad in a local paper which states "Web Hosting for only $14.95 month" or similar, will not generate a lot of response. However, "Get your business website online for only $14.95 month" certainly should pique some interest.
What I have found is that a lot of established local businesses who don't have a website have looked at getting one in the past. They were usually quoted a few thousand for the design, and $50+ per month for the hosting. When you go on to explain that they can have all this for so much less, they are somewhat sceptical at first, but genuinely interested in finding out more. Prove to the first few that you are the real deal, and local business referrals spread like wildfire.
