    Disabling APF firewall?

    Hi:
Just wondering, what's the easiest way to disable APF on the server? No matter what I run APF just comes back the next day.

    Thanks,

    Thanks,
I guess what you're asking is how to uninstall it.

    Simply do the following:

    1. Stop the firewall
    apf -f

    2. Remove the entry from the cronjob
rm /etc/cron.d/firewall (might be a different name)

    3. Remove all other references to the firewall
    chkconfig --del apf
    rm /etc/init.d/apf
    rm -rf /etc/apf

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the response. Actually, I just want to disable it, say for a week or so.

    chmod 000 /etc/apf
    chmod 000 /etc/init.d/apf

<without the ability to run its config file, apf can't make any decision itself can it ? and 000 on init will prevent it to run on boot time>

    come back after a week,

    chmod 755 /etc/apf
    chmod 755 /etc/init.d/apf

That would work admin0 and is probably easier then deleting the cronjob for it. The "problem" is that apf restarts itself every 24 hours which also causes problems if you manually add rules outside of apf because they will be lost.

Disabling the APF can be done quite easily. You need to check on the locations that are set to enable APF. Checking the startup processes on the server will be helpful. Later you can stop the service. That will do.

Else as Admin0 has mention of, you can change the permission of the access for APF.
