    What's the best FTP Client?

I'm going to prepare a list of ftp clients for our customers. We usually recommend Shareware clients.

Are there any freewares? (windows platform)

I would have to say WS_FTP Pro is one of the best.

I however, use FileZilla, because it is open source and pretty good.

BPFTP. Although it sucks once the trial expires.

    SmartFTP otherwise.

    I've used that before.
But you can't honestly say you normally use that, it takes way too long, or can you?

    FileZilla and FlashFXP here too.

And uhm. Why do people still recommend WS_FTP? It's a relic from the early nineties, has a terrible interface, and all sorts of show-stopping bugs (I can produce wrong behaviour in at least two cases, and at one point I had a file that would reproducibly crash the client at the same point during the upload...how can the data it's transferring crash it...bad code, hello!). Anyway, can you tell that I hate that this is the only FTP client installed on the machines at my college?

    CuteFTP Professional.

If you ever want it cheaply, take out the trial, and in the survey at the end say you like the product, say you won't buy it because it was too expensive, and then you'll get it for $30 - at least it worked for me!
