I need somebody who is experienced in installing phpBB MOD's, and is able to install a number of modifications starting immediately.
I will probably want to do some custom tweaking here and there as well, so the more experience the better. You need to know PHP and HTML fairly well.
Please send an example of at least one board you have modded, and any other work you want to share.
I will provide FTP to a default installation of phpBB and tell you what mods I want done. You must obtain and install the MOD's, then send me a copy of the MOD install file when complete. I highly suggest using HTML-Kit so you can edit the site's files directly, you can install these very rapidly.
phpBB MOD's each have an 'estimated time' in the install file. It usually specifies a range, e.g. "30-45 minutes". I will calculate time spent at the low end of this range, so for "30-45 minutes" I will base pay on 30 minutes. The estimate is always rather high for an experienced phpBB'er.
Hangon, hangon, you were saying "I'll pay you X based on time Y which should only take you time Z". Since pay X was pointless for time Y, saying that "oh if you're decent it should only take you time Z, so it's ok" is tosh.
Much better would be to say: "Please do the following mods, tell me ho w long it took you, and I'll pay you @ $X/hr, or perhaps we can work out a deal together".
I apologise for the poster who said it's unlawful - note I didn't say it's unlawful, I said it's a ripoff, which in my eyes it is.
Sorry you took my info the wrong way. But you really shouldn't take offense, it was only constructive criticism.
Okay, sorry for reacting so harshly, but you did say "ripoff". I find it quite offensive to have anyone think I'm only willing to pay somebody $5 per hour. It's much nicer when you explain your reasoning.
While the estimates are not accurate they are indicative and serve a useful purpose. It's easy to say "tell me how long it takes ya", but it's impossible to keep track of.
Maybe I should have stated it differently, which is why I will end this offer now and save the hassle and the time I could spend just doing the mods.
P.S. I will add that many of these mods are around 5 minutes, which equates to about $20 per hour, which considering how much I make is pretty sweet for a fairly straightforward task.
Guys, again I aplogize for reacting angrily. Two people jumped on me for something I had absolutely no intention of doing, calling me a ripoff. I am absolutely not ripping anyone off, and I explained this very well. If someone insults me, I defend myself. I am an incredibly easy going person, and I've never once felt more insulted online in the years I have been a geek (basically forever).
Again, I have seen people offering to do MOD's using this same pricing structure for even less money, which is exactly why I chose to do it this way in the first place. Obviously a bad idea.
I installed six MODs in about 40 minutes last night, woohoo I just made $10 in 40 minutes off myself! How is that such a bad deal? $15 per hour for basic HTML skills is nothing to write home about but I'm not Bill Gates here.
For example, how long does it take a non-techie to get their VCR programmed compared to someone who has owned a VCR for years? Are you going to pay someone to sit there and fumble with the manual for two hours?
Please understand that instead of constructive criticism, I got two flames which basically soured this offer permanently. Wouldn't that bother you? Not only insulted, but the idea planted here that I'm promoting some kind of illegal activity, and furthermore abusing minimum wage standards which is just ludicrous.

That's simply not true. I have been doing custom development for years, and I do plenty of fixed price contracts. Clients rarely want to pay for service hours, it's a huge mess for most people to keep track of and understandably so. Look at WHT or SP or any other related forum, and you see hundreds of fixed price service requests. If I'm doing a lousy job and it takes me too long, it's my own fault.
yegorpb - I don't care if you use EasyMOD or voodoo. Glad you find this humorous though.
