Anyone have any experience with load balancing a database server? I have a general idea on how to load balance a web server but not sure how to do it with a db. How will the database data be synchronised across two+ boxes? Seems like a complex proposition to me. Please share know your experiences with us. I don't want to be in over my head.
I will be using SQL Server on a Dual Xeon 3.0 box that can use as much as 16GIGs of memory. How bad will traffic need to be before that box gets maxed out?
Originally posted by pstation hm, isnt 4GB the max you can use on x86 based systems? but, i recommend making sure EVERYTHING is optimized, read up on mysql indexes. Also, what kind of hard drives will the machine have?
You can go above 4GB on newer systems. The machine will have a RAID 5 SCSI drive setup. Yes, we try to optimize as much as we can.
