    Problems sending email with Sendmail

My Sendmail program will not let me send emails out. I do not know why. When I try to send an email from [email protected] to [email protected] I get this error (in Outlook Express):

The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was [email protected]'. Subject 'Test', Account: [email protected]', Server: '', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '450 4.7.1 <[email protected]>... Relaying temporarily denied. Cannot resolve PTR record for', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 450, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

Obviously I changed the email address, but you get the point.

Any idea what I can do to make it work? I am running Sendmail version 8.11.6

Hello.. did you try sending mails from server using the mail command?

type this in the shell: mail -v [email protected]

I hope you are familiar with using this command.. Try this.. Also check the exim_mainlog file for what it shows when you send mail..

If it is just Outlook related issue, then you can search for the error code in microsoft's support site..

Ok, here is what happened when I did the mail -v command to my [email protected] address:

    mail -v [email protected]

So obviously it works from the command line.

It is NOT a problem with outlook express because it will not send email over SMTP from any mail client.

I have pop-before-smtp installed but it obviously is not working correctly.

You mean to say you cannot connect to the smtp server? Did you check through the command prompt too, by telneting to port 25 and executing "ehlo"?
Are you having issues with webmail too?
