I have a debian 3.1 sarge server on my home network. I want to use it to backup accounts from my main server. The main server is cpanel based, and it does daily, weekly and monthly backups to a 2nd hardrive. I want to know what command I would use on my home debian server to copy one of the cpanel backup folders from the 2nd hardrive on the main server.
So this is what will happen:
1. Main server creates folder on second hardrive with cpanel accounts tarred up (already doing that now via cpanel backup).
2. I want to type rsync bla bla on my home server to COPY that folder to the home servers hardrive.
I hope this sounds clear. It would be great for step 2 happen automatically once a week.
You could just install a FTP daemon on your Debian box at home and use the built in FTP option for your WHM/CPanel Backups.
Instead of just tarring them up and storing them on your second hard drive on your main server, you can configure your WHM backups to connect to the FTP server on your Debian box and put the compressed backup from your main server directly on the Debian Box for you.
Check out the FTP option under WHM Config. Backups.
