I have one of them at my facility now, I didn't buy it, it was shipped directly to me on behalf of a client. Seems to be quality parts and well assembled.
I know the guys, but I stick to IBM servers personally.
I had a few customers who had a couple dozen of the jhpservers lower end machines. They were based on the supermicro SC512 chassis, regular desktop boards, and had fairly poor airflow.
I dont know what their pricing is now (over a year later), but at the time I didn't find it inspirational. I've always found building our own was more worthwhile, primarily because I demand more control over various quality related aspects of our servers, and the pricing is typically better also.
Originally posted by HeadBeaver Yes I'm looking for 1U, 2U, 4U servers ideally.
Will wait to hear from you and will email you later on.
Myles if you don't mind me asking you: I assume you build your own servers, where do you get the hardware from? If it is somewhere locally please do let us know.
Unfortunatly it's not anywhere local. The only people who have decent selection have dismal pricing, the only people with decent pricing have dismal selection, and theres a bunch of people in the middle with pathetic policies (eg. canada computers, 7 day warranties on almost every item).
My vendor of choice is in cali, www.ewiz.com their selection is superb, their support responsive, they'll custom order parts for you, and their pricing is excellent. Only real complaints I could make is that sometimes packaging can be less then stellar (on the rare occasion granted), shipping times suck as they're in Cali, aside from that though, they're excellent.
