Self Hosting/Apache question...
I'm trying to run an Apache/PHP/MySql server through my computer. Can I make it so that if someone types in my ip they will be brought to a certain index? I'm running Apache 2.0.54 and use a router.
Please help, total newbie here.
what is your operating system? Are you on Linux or Windows?
I am using Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition.
well make sure that your ISP will allow you to do this first and that you have a static IP and also make sure that you configure windows with IIS as well since itwill need that to set up the IP
Apache'll be listening on port 80, so any connection attempt will go to Apache.
You just need to make sure that the default site points to the directory with your files.
Mess with the conf files (make backup first) and you can learn alot about how Apache works. You can make it so if its accessed locally, it takes you to a root folder, but if you IP is entered remotely, it takes the enduser to a home directory (or page).
