    Hi,

I bought my first domain (.com) at NetworkSolutions in 1997. By that time NetworkSoulutions sent a colorful certificate for each domain.

I guess in 1997 the prices for a .com domain were much higher than today,
so they could easily afford the colorful certificate

    Mine was a .com, too.

My first domain was free, not purchased This was back in 1995 whilst the UK domains were still managed by someone in a university.

I registered a .co.uk as at that time you registered a domain based on your country and only looked at a .com etc... if you were a global company. (How things have changed !)

I still use this domain today.
