    Looking for new host.

I'm looking for a new host that is simular to DIYhosting but has better support and possibly a different control panel than hsphere. Unfortunately I've been with them for about a year and a half now and I just can't stand how poor their support is and the functionality of the way they have their hspher control panel set up for people. Right now I've been waiting 10 days just to get a response back on some questions. It's odd because they started out really great but then just went down hill for me. I'm sure other people have had a good experience with them and don't doubt that they are somewhat good. As for me they are just not right for me. Our company is a graphic design company that offers hosting to our clients and in no way do we claim to even be a hosting company. We simply offer it as a service and so there really is no time on my end to become fully educated on every aspect in the hosting world. We simply need this:

    1)Have Windows & Unix servers.
2)The ability to host .asp if need be.
3)Have a secure FTP for uploading files for individual clients.
4)Preferably a different control panel other than hsphere, unless there is a company that better utilizes the program.
5)The ability to host many websites like a reseller plan.
6)Phone support would be nice but is not needed if there is a good response time over email or forum.
7)A company who understands that we are not a hosting company but a design company that will need to have a way to set up something easy for us to seup up on our end. This is not to say that we don't understand the hosting things, but we just don't have the time to put into it like an individual who is starting a hosting company.
8)Relative large amount of disk space(around 6000mb) and bandwidth(around 50gig) Basically we need what diyhosting offers under their corporate plan.

I'm sure there is more but I hope this is enough right now for people give comments on where we can go. We really need to switch hosting soon so any help is appreciated.

Hello, sorry to hear about your trouble . I believe DIYhosting posts here often, I am surprised to hear of your concerns.

Finding a host with both Unix and Windows can be a little tough. My advice to you is to find a seperate Windows and Unix host.

    Best of luck.

Well it would be ok to go just all Windows but DIY has suggested at one time to host my FTP on their UNIX servers for security so that is why I bring having both. What about Jodohost.com? Or am I looking at another failure. It's hard to trust a site that has a huge photo of their CEO on the front page. Somewhat lame if you ask me. Any thoughts though?

    Hi,

Do you mind emailing me that support ticket that went unanswered for ten days?

I did a track back for created tickets. The oldest is in hours, not days.

Please email that ID to me so that I can take a look for you.

    Thanks,

Well, the reason the picture is there is that we do like to say that our company is built around real people with alot of experience. We have some very experienced managers and system administrators that keep things running here at Jodohost

We have been in business for quite a while now, have an active forum and lots of good reviews at WHT and at other forums. That's all I'd like to say

I am really very sorry to hear the experience from you. In case you are looking for another host then you can check with the requirements of your's under the advertising forums. You will find plenty of offers in there. You can also place a quote request over here and you will be replied by various hosts as you will not receive any offers over here.

Jodohost Yash-JH your picture is just fine and does the job you want it to do. It is so much better than the other 99% of hosts who only show pictures of computers (even not their own!), premises (id.) and abstract drawings.

I have read that JodoHost is one of the better hosts but they run h-sphere.

I would go to a seperate windows host and a LINUX host - this way you can use cpanel on linux and HELM or plesk on windows.

Also the benefits is having your sites on a different network, so in the case that the network provider fails, at least some of yours sites still work.

I can't stand H-sphere... it is soooo incredibly slow...

I have never had any slowness on our HSphere control panel. If you are experiencing slowness with your host, its probably due to poor hardware

I disagree with that. HSphere is cluster based meaning that all your sites and email accounts get deployed over not one but many. if one server goes down, a majority of your customer sites will still be online.

If you say that the network can fail, that is the most unlikely source of downtime these days. And most resellers would go for a Helm + cPanel account with the same provider so that argument doesn't make sense. An Hsphere cluster can also be deployed over multiple networks.

Resellers may find a Helm + cPanel solution an attractive alternative to HSphere when they first start-up, but when you grow, believe me you'd wish you were on HSphere

Well I would email you the support ticket with the dates but your diysupport.com site is not working right now so I can't log in to retrieve the information.

DIYSupport.com works fine. It always has. Tickets from other users arrive without issue - these are tickets that can only be sent in via the support center.

All I can advise there is that you check your password - if you get a specific error message, and you know your login information is correct; call us.

This goes the same for everything; If you have anything you'd like to discuss, our toll free number is emblazened all over our website. There is always someone available via both the support center, and the phone system.

My comment on JodoHost having a huge photo of himself is just constructive criticism and in no way is it a direct knock. I work in field full of good design and bad design and while the layout of the site works I'm just not happy with photos of owners on the home page. No offense, just my humble opinion.

What other control panels are out there besides hsphere? It's not that I am not happy with hsphere I just don't like the way my current host has their templates set up. It's just not intuitive.

Please do not insult my inteligence by telling me that diysupport.com was working fine. I know my password, I know how to type it in correctly. You're support site was down yesterday and I could not login to view my ticket. Also, I know your number is everywhere and do not need to be told that. Again stop assuming I don't know how support works.

So to give everyone the truth I am copying the Tickets that were exchanged. I can send screen captures too if this is not valid enough.

I'm having some issues where I look at my Account Preview for the different accounts I have and the "Host Name" section has about 3 different associations. I think I have a win-01.rustygeorge.net, win-03.rustygeorge.net and most recently a win-04.ihservers.com. How do I make these all the same and especially get the win-04.ihservers.com to show up as a rustygeorge.net? Thanks

    Hello,

Please login to your reseller administrative control panel and select E.Manager -> Server aliases.

You can then submit the shcnages via this screen.

There's a lot of them there. Do I really need all of those? Also, it
only shows that I can make edits to a couple of them. It's kind of
confusing because I have like 3 Windows 2000 Web Servers, like 5 Web Servers and some others. How can I narrow this stuff down to just 1 or 2? How would I move my existing accounts over to them after I made changes?

    Hello,

Yes, you need to apply the changes on all of them that are currently editable. This will resolve your problem.

Yes I did that. Can you please answer all of my questions though?
    1. Do I need to have all of these different ones?
    2. Can I edit them within each plan I have so that I can make each plan
I create use the same one?
    3. How do you move existing accounts over to just one of these?
    4. Can I delete any of these?
    5. Why does it create these new dns numbers whenever I create a new
    plan?

    Sir,

    Your questions were already answered.

You need to apply all server aliases in that section, which was why the ticket was resolved. If you have seperate, unrelated questions then they should be plac ed in a new ticket.

    >>2. Can I edit them within each plan I have so that I can make each plan
I create use the same one?
No, you can not edit server side, account dependant dns records.

    >>3. How do you move existing accounts over to just one of these?
You would need to place a ticket with this request, including the reason you need the domain moving from one server to another

    >>4. Can I delete any of these?
Your system depends on your DNS records being untampered. If you delete them, we can not guarantee your account will function. There is no need to change, edit, or delete any entries.

    >>5. Why does it create these new dns numbers whenever I create a new
    plan?
It requires them for the instant alias domain.

As far as my questions already being answered. I don't see how that is possible or else it would have showed up in this support ticket. Anyways, you can see where the dates were April 26 to May 6.

This thread is not meant to start a confrintation between my old host and me so please lets get back to the topic at hand. Anyone have some good advice as to where I can go? Thanks

    PixelPuncher,

I'm not sure why you're rejecting my offer to help you, but that's your call. Help was offered; you rejected.

Regarding the ticket: The answer to your question was posted 17 minutes after you posted it. Short as the reply may have been, his response was 100% accurate, both times. The ticket was marked as resolved as the fix was clearly posted to you on those occasions.

As clearly stated in the resolved ticket notice, and as David noted; if you require further assistance with a different issue, or set of questions you should open a new ticket via https://www.diysupport.com - If you received our replies (which you obviously did), you received that notice.

DIYSupport.com was working fine (and still is). I do not presume to "insult your intelligence". It is not a case of insulting anyone, or anything. Anyone who was looking at this very thread at the time could have seen DIYSupport.com was up, and in full working order. I'd be a tad foolish to state something that could be publicly proven wrong by thousands of WHT users, including many of our own users that browse this forum.
