    Writing a calling card application..

    Hey all!

I am writing a calling card application. People will call, enter their 10 digit calling card number, gives their balance, allows them to dial number, call is placed, when they hangup, time is subtracted and updated in the database.

My question is: what information should be stored in the database? I don't want to forget anything.

    Thanks.

    Journal table (logs)
    id
    card id
    Area code
    Phone Number
    time consumed

    rates table (price list)
    id
    area code
    cost per minute

    a card table (inventory)

    card id
    card number
    Money value(total)
    balance

I'm a little tired...my scheme maybe needs improvement.

Well, All calls to teh US are going to be the same price, they will be redirected if they need to call another country and the price will be handles in the other application.

Thanks for the response. List more if you can think of any.

    Thanks.

Just wondering, how do you plan to actually implement this on a telephone system? Are you planning on using Asterisk PBX?

Ah... that's cool. I've played around with Asterisk, although it was frustrating trying to get it to work with FreeWorldDialup, and I eventually gave up. With what VoIP service are you planning on testing it?

You might look at some of the other open source projects for calling cards with asterisk:
