I was goin to get a domain name from lunar pages, when i noticed they give 1000MB disk space and unlimited emails.I dont understand if disk space includes the email space as well. So,does that mean if my email capacity exceeds 1 GB,i won't be receiving new mails???I choose to go for lunarpages because it has support for jsp/servlet and it's cheap. If you know of any other site that provides this please let me know that too. Thanks
But i think that not realistic.I am accessing the email through outlook,so I think they should provide extra space for emails. If i have 10 email accounts under my domain name,so does that mean if anybody's account exceeds just 100MB..it would start giving problems.Even, hotmail provides 2GB email space free of cost....so why do these guys give so less space???
You can set the accounts however you like. You can have one account with 500 and 100 at 5mb if you like. (assuming they allow unlimited email accounts)
Your using outlook has nothing to do with the amount of disk space you use on a host's servers.
If you are paying for 1000mb it doesn't matter to the host if it is email space or regular disk space, it still takes up hard drive space.
With Outlook, it downloads the mail to your computer. I was assuming that you would use online mail--if this is not the case, there's no problem. [granted, you can only store 1GB of email before needing to download it ]
As far as Hotmail and Gmail providing a lot of space.. ALL you get is email, and they provide NO support. If ALL you want is email, and you want NO support, I'm sure you could get a ton more disk space for your money.
Generally all the hosts include the email space in the disk space itself. On top of it there are certain restrictions over the capacity of each and every email account which is generally set to 50 MB. So if your email account exceeds this limit then you will not be able to receive any emails.
But if you are using the outlook express then there should not be any need for you to have larger disk space as you can have the emails downloaded on your machine and you can save them at your end.
OK..thanks again friends..i knew this was the site..to post my doubts and i got them cleared by now.I will go with lunarpages.....and get a domain name tommorow morning.I was just wonderin if i would use a redirector from my domain email idd..to my yahoo/hotmail idd, then would a copy of my email still exists on the domain web server,or it would be moved to my yahoo disk space??Any comments...otherwise i would call the lunarpages guys to know this. Thanks friends!!!
If you setup a forward, it will just forward all mail sent to that address to whatever account you want it forwareded to. It won't keep the e-mail on the server as that would be a mailbox not a forward.
