I suppose it depends on what consider "fascinating".

Many of those people I don't find to be in the least fascinating.

Some are fascinating in a weird way. Some make decisions nobody can explain or justify.. while others do good things for people, despite how awful this world is.

You hit that one on the head... I totally agree.. most of them seem extremly boring, or very "sheepish"...

But what else can you say.. CNN doing one of these is like VH1 ranking the all-time best albums.. its always rubbish.

Like others already stated Blue27 is right on the money.

However, as will demonstrate that I don't really follow world news, I will admit I was faciniated by 18) Lech Walesa as I had no idea who that was.

Same here - I'd never heard of him either:

Lech Walensa was leader of anti-comunist movement in Poland and a first democratically elected president of Poland (I think in 1990, but I am not sure).

But for #17 & #23 I have never heard of.

And where is Jonathan Ive? Bono? Armani? Hugo Boss? Madonna? Schumacher? Al Pacino? Sir Templeton? Hugh Heffner? Larry Flint? Tiger Woods? etc.

3 and 11 I find interesting - the rest not interested in at all.

Richard Branson would be another I'm interested in - Shania Twain - erm - quite a number of people really - but only 2 on that list.

Out of that entire list, I find none of those people interesting. The people who I find interesting are the people who I have direct contact with like the extremely attractive girl at starbuck, the homeless guy that sells terrible joke books for 10 dollars a piece, or the hotdog guy that always has a line of 3-4 people wanting a hotdog. Just because a person is famous doesn't make them interesting in my book.

Keep in mind that this is the top 25. There is obviously only a limited amount (25, to be exact ) of people they can place on the list, and there are a lot of people to consider. I'm not sure who the judges are or how they decided, but I'm sure they are pretty informed, knowledgeable people.

Also remember that the most fascinating people are not necessarily those who you, or anyone, likes the best. Something or someone can be fascinating, but at the same time be disliked by many people.

Lol, Celebrities aren't facinating. Not after what the tabloids and paparazzis do to let the whole world know about their lives

Now, no one could haunt George Bush 24 hours a day to find out what TV shows he watches every night...

I can see the logic for most of the entries on the list. If I were to read a world history book one hundred years from now about the past 25 years, I think many of these people would play a large part.

Celebrities may be more dynamic personality-wise, but as far as longterm significance, they aren't what I would call fascinating.

    I've a question:
Why the names are started from #2?
    who is the #1?

Stay tuned as the No. 1 fascinating person from the last quarter-century is revealed in the days to come while CNN continues to celebrate its 25th anniversary.

They haven't announced the number one person yet. Maybe Michael Jackson or OJ

  21. #21
And Zoran Djindic, former Serbian prime-minister (killed in 2003) deserved to be in top 25 as well.

    Jesus is #1

The list lost all its seriousness when George W. Bush made it on the list of most Fascinating people, I have nothing against the guy being a president but to say he's fascinating...

His wife is more fascinating to me then he will ever be.

Technically Jesus is Allah (the arabic word for God) who christians believe came to earth in a human body, but yes they should all have a place on the list.

Not starting a religious debate but just want
to clear one thing. Muslims don't take Jesus
as God or son of God. They take Jesus as a
    messenger of Allah.
