Can anyone teach me how you can have more than 1 shoutcaster on 1 server? I heard there is a way but you have to use ventrilo. tsncentraldotcom is a good example of multiple shoutcasters on a server while using vent
All you need to do is duplicate the config file, rename it to something else so you know what it streaming, then configure that conf to run on another port of the IP assigned to the server. I think you can also bind shoutcast now to a specified IP as well.
Originally posted by Minthosting also copy all the files and make a new directory i.e shoutcast1
You really don't have to create a new directory, you can use the same executeable binary. It makes more sence to do it this way as when you need to upgrade the software, you only need to replace the one binary file and not each binary file within the server itself.
For instance, this is what we would do..
Each server has its own shoutcast user, for instance "scast" the users files, could for instance be placed in /usr/local/shoutcast/
For each stream, we would duplicate the origonal config file:
cp sc_serv.conf clientname_streams_bitrate.conf
Edit the config file to your likeing, and change the port it runs on ( default is 8000, you will need to bumpt this up by 2 as the initial shoutcast would use both 8001 as well as 8000 ).
Then its as simple as starting that up,
./sc_serv clientname_streams_bitrate.conf &
Of course you can place the config files in another directory if that will help keep you orgonized, as well as the logs, etc.
