Help with setting up a subdomain redirect

    Hi:
i'm trying to set up a subdomain called "test.mysite.com" to redirect to another IP. In WHM, I went to "Modify DNS Zone" for mysite.com, and added the A record:

    test 14400 IN A 30.30.30.30

where "30.30.30.30" is the destination IP hosting the actual test.mysite.com site. But it's not working- entering "test.mysite.com" goes nowhere.

    Thanks for the help.

Propagation problem may be? Let us know the domain/subdomain

    Hi:
The domain is a client's site with some sensitive info, so I can publically post the domain. But is there any way to diagnose where the problem is occuring? The subdomain redirect should work immediately after I set it up.

    Thanks,

    # service named restart
    # dig sub.domain.com

    Hi:
Thanks. The dig command seems to show everything is set up correctly:
    Code:
    ; <<>> DiG 9.2.3 <<>> test.mysite.com
    ;; global options: printcmd

Am I correct a subdomain redirect done using A record should work immediately upon set up, assuming of course destination IP is already working?

    Thanks,

Nevermind, it works now. Apparently the process is not instantanous, even though I don't see why not.
