I think you need to supply a lot more info as to what you're looking for.
However, ServerMatrix's parent company, ThePlanet, offers colocation services. They're not cheap.0

There's a few places that aren't "expensive" but cheap is subjective. To me GNAX.net is about as cheap as I'd be comfortable going to. Any cheaper and I'd start to worry if they're gonna be reliable enough to be useful, but that's just me.

I'd consider cheap colo 1U + 1-2Mbps for around $100, and there are a couple people out there doing it.AppliedOperations - Premium Service

yup their bandwidth and remote hand are not cheap. I would suggest www.dedicatednow.com if you have just a few 1u servers.P4HOST.COM -- Specialize in quality Web Hosting solutions.

GNAX's pricing for bandwidth scales very well as usage increases. I'm paying about $38/mbit with my current volume. I've been there for a while and can't really say anything bad about them. There is always a chance of miscommunication or something, but after everythng is said and done they are a good provider. I've actually searched for something comparable that is more local (just so I could get physical access if needed), but nothing can touch them for the value. In the end it was more economical to wire up remote console for the servers there.

Dont mean to clog but really if i were u stay away from colocation, unless its in your neighbourhood and still avoid it. Its not worth it to pay and maintain hardware when dedicated prices are so low. Don't forget licensing fees, and do you really have the time to have 24x7 hardware monitoring by your own staff? You want 100 customers waking you up? Trust, I've been with a colo company for 4 years and its the bane of their existence. As they growth, they need to make huge investments in technology and manpower when dedicated could take care of most of that by itself.

Given the outage that they caused their customers when moving from Server Central to their own space and Peer1 transit (poor planning on their part), then their attempt to blame that mistake on SCN, I'd be very hesitant to do business with them based on what I perceive to be both a lack of ability and integrity.Jeff at Innovative Network Concepts / 212-981-0607 x8579 / AIM: jeffsw6

I wouldn't be suprised if we saw more of this in the future (not specifically from gowebman), and that there will be more fallout overall.AppliedOperations - Premium Service

peer1 colo is amazing, true, 100% uptime for the past year. Not down for a second even for me. Watch for high data transfer costs with them, tho.
But still, it'd stick with dedicated unlesss u wanna be up all night dealing with hardware. When your motherboard fails at 10 PM, i hope u have another cause no computer store is open that late. So remeber u'll need to double everything. its all in your hands.0

I keep at least 1 or 2 empty servers handy for moves/emergencies/etc.
Tell me where I can rent 92 fairly nice servers (most have 1G ram 2x60 or 2x80 or 2x120 harddrives and P4 2.x or dual P3's) for -under- $4000 per month and I might consider dedicateds. Granted I have a pretty hefty setup fee for each one of mine but I can also depreciate that over 5 years, write off the upgrades/etc.Gary Harris - the artist formerly known as Dixiesys

Didn't witness this outage with gowebman! There seems to be a lot of talk on this company though! This may be a good thing! Obviously they are doing something right if they are still around through hard times! Maybe they improved there QOS! 6 post now! oh..I forgot jsw6 you never started at 5 posts! huh?

I've gotta agree about colo costs. I've got 2 machines I'm shipping off tomorrow that I paid $300 each for: a 2xP3-1000 with 2x 36g SCSIs and 1GB ram, and a P4 with 2 18G SCSIs and 2GB ram.
They're plenty for my needs.
Now, the new loaded Dell 1850 next to them is another issue entirely, but I hope to get as much use out of it as these cheapies have seen since they were built.0

Colocation can be much less expensive when you need more than a couple servers. You can get 1/4 rack or cabinet and fill it with 8 servers (plus some networking and power supply gear) for the cost of two dedicated servers. Of course you have higher startup costs (buying 8 servers) but it will pay for itself in a few months in the savings over dedicated. Plus you know exactly what hardware you have and you know it should last 5+ years.
Dedicated Server: $150/month * 5 years = $9,000
Colocated Server: $600 + $40/month * five years = $3,000
The colocated server will have paid for itself in 4 months and one week. Multiply this by eight servers and you're talking about a difference of $48,000. Of course, this is just an example and the prices aren't perfect... but it's a reasonable estimate for what some people may be paying.Fork Networking - 1995-2020+
