Review: Sprintserve.net
Hello,
I have been with http://www.sprintserve.net for about two years.
I started with a reseller account and I now have a managed dedicated server with them.
1. They are super reliable. My downtime has been very, very minimal.
2. Their support is excellent. On a few occassions I have asked some pretty wacky support requests and they've always been helpful and courteous. They go above and beyond the support agreement I have with them.
3. They are good value. Excellent specs and bandwidth, excellent support and excellent uptime for a very reasonable fee.
4. They are honest. If there is going to be maintenance, downtime (rare) or anything along those lines they always give a lot of advance warning. If there are problems (rare) they keep their clients regularly updated.
Overall I cannot fault them and I cannot see myself leaving them for another host.
If, like me, you have had a lot of bad experiences with hosts in the past, do yourself a favor and move to sprintserve.net.
Cheers.

I even let them take a server from me a few weeks before I was due to give it back to them (and had paid for in full.)
And now I notice they won't refund me for overcharging me.
Unfortunately for me I do not pay any attention to my credit card statements. Who knows what's been going on for the past few years.
AVOID.

Something smells fishy here - I think we'd all like more details.

You're more than welcome to present your side of the story, if you feel you must drag this issue into the public arena.

No need to be discreet, as the issue's already public.

Staff.ie , if you are doing a review on a hosting company, how about giving us the complete picture rather than asking the host to fill up the blanks? Facts may not go away, but they wont be in the forum if you leave them as blanks expecting others to fill them up. How about giving us the complete facts so that it would be easier for readers to come up with their own judgements?

I have given you the facts.
I paid for a reseller account ($34.95.) I wanted to use it to backup some files from a server of mine. Discovered I do not have access to a sprintserve server, but rather their bqbackup.com account only. Cancelled the subscription. They ignored my cancellation e-mail for a few days. They then billed me again and afterwards sent me an e-mail saying they will now cancel my subscription.
The reason this has gotten me extra pissed off is because I have been very good to them. A very good customer, ignoring any problems I've had (downtime), and leaving positive reviews for them. I also let them take back a server from me a few weeks early.
Now they refuse to refund the extra month which they billed me. for. Again, they were charging my $34.95 for their reseller account but actually only gave me access to their $5 bqbackup.com account. And they refuse to refund the extra month they changed me for.
Don't you think it is highly strange I pay for their reseller package and they give me access to their bqbackup account instead? And they make me pay through the nose for it, and ignore my cancellation request?
I have never given them any hassle, I have always been nice to them, and then they do this.
I'm also a little pissed off how they put so much pressure on me to give them back a server which I was not using (but had paid for!!) And then they do this...
I would like an explanation from them, but I get the feeling they are ignoring this thread, hoping it will go away.

Is that correct?

To answer your questions -
So you asked for a reseller account to use as a backup service, and you claim you weren't on their server, although they also own bqbackup.com?
Seems like you tried to cancel just prior to their billing run and they didn't process the cancellation until after the billing run. Did you follow their cancellation procedure?
I do not believe I should have to pay for another month of a service I am not getting.
But you asked for an account to handle to "backup some files from a server of mine". You requested a backup service, which looks like operated from their server/s.
Is that correct?Last edited by Max Renn; 12-12-2005 at 11:37 AM.

Bob, one thing remains unclear to me (I know you're not really the one involved, but you seem to take interest in the thread).
If the man asked and paid for a reseller account (no matter what he was going to use it for), how did he end up with a backup account? Maybe it was a communication problem and they thought he asked for that backup account, but then why wasn't he charged $5?
Sorry, I just don't get it.
