Thumbs down Newborn To Be Named After Internet Casino GoldenPalace.com

APRIL 28, 2005, HARTFORD, CT -- April 27, 2005 will go down in history as the day GoldenPalace.com was born. A beautiful baby girl came into the world at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital at 03:34 ET to a proud mother that sold her naming rights on eBay to Internet casino GoldenPalace.com for $15,100 while she was still in the womb.

Pretty sick in my opinion. That child will be scared for along time and will probably hate her mother. How a mother could do that is beyond me.

That's terrible. I'm glad my mom didn't do something like that. I'd hate it.

That's great advertising job on Casinopalace's part.

now that to me is personally crossing the line. a child cannot make the decision for itself and the parents profit off the baby. It is imo a very bad pr situation for this company, because I feel they've crossed the line from purchasing silly objects and notes to plainly ruining people's lives who have no say in it.

It is pure evil of the parents to decide to sell their child's name like that. It's almost as bad as selling the actual child, which, cannot be done obviously. The kid is going to be made fun of at school from the start and will end up with a horrible life.

Selfish people the parents are. Very selfish.

Should these people be parents? If my parents did that to me I would hate them for it.

actually, your right and i'm thinking of writing to a senator to make it illegal for commerically selling a child's name. I have a feeling in a few years now this will just get worse and worse. Its our duty to protect the ones who cannot defend themselves from being commerically named.

For a measly $345 the online casino purchased the "Temporal Field Displacement Generator" complete with Flux Capacitor, Dilithium Crystals, and 4 AA Energizer batteries (from the future). However, it looks like GoldenPalace.com has given up on the abilities of future scientists: this time the machine wasn't built in the future only the batteries were.

Is it just me or do I see... lack of intelligence? I had to laugh at that.. dilithium crystals.

I didn't realize how (I'll use a basic term here) messed up the world is... until now (well, now I see it, i've known it..).

Golden Palace is laughing all the way to the bank with these ridiculous things. They're the same folks that paid thousands for the grilled cheese sandwhich with the image of the virgin Mary in it and paid some lady to write their name on her chest.

What some of you people are not taking into account is that this money could well be used to enhance this child's life.

You don't know the financial situation of the woman. She could be working below the poverty level or not working at all.

If this money goes toward giving the child a better life, food, education etc. then I am all for it.

now hold on for a second. It may enhance the child's life for a temporary amount of time or the parents could pocket it down the timeline. I'm wondering have you considered the amount of harassment and bullying that would occur to this child when she enters into elementary school? If anything she will most likely be made fun of for the name, I know people would make fun of you if you had a name like for example "Little Bastard Jones" do you see where i'm saying?

The kid may be named that, but they can use whatever name he/she wants. And at 18, the name can be changed.

Actually, you can change your name at any age, as long as you have parental consent. I'm wondering how long this contract is supposed to last, if there is one, and thus how long they will be obligated to keep that name.

Blue, we have programs that help single mothers and families such as WIC, which provides food and so forth for growing children. I know there are other government programs out there that help young families.
