Needed ASAP - Person with NFS mounting skills.

    Needed -

I need a linux server admin, who has worked with NFS in the past and knows how to configure and get the most preformance out of NFS.

We have some servers that have a gigabit network between them, but the NFS server looses conncetion with the other servers almost every 10 mins.

Please PM or or call me.

    205-421-1554

    Thanks

    (servers have Fedora core 2)

Are you seeing messages like the following?

    nfs server 192.168.0.3:/var/mail: not responding
    nfs server 192.168.0.3:/var/mail: not responding

Well, unfortunately those errors are normal. I have a very large NFS implementation for email servers, and those little timeouts constantly happen. I have researched this a lot, and there is little you can do. As far as I can tell for us they don't really impact performance too much. Are they impacting your performance? Also what server flags are you passing to nfsd?

yes it is impacting preformance, the site is down 20 out of 24 hours due to the damn thing not working.

Server load shoots from 3-5 to 150+ when NFS fails and then crashes.

All servers are Dual Xeon 2.4GHZ and 4GB Ram

really need to know the flags...

    IE
I lauch nfsd with the following
    nfsd -u -n 72

Also I need to know the mount flags
    Client:
    soft,nfsv3,intr,mntudp,-w=8192,-r=8192

Edit: Also to launch that many server processes I had to change a header file and recompile nfsd (freebsd at least)
