What do you need - someone to provide 500mb of space, and ftp access; or ftp daemon software to run on your own computer so people can upload about 500mb of data?

All hosts provide FTP access, so basically you can buy any package that suits you and keep your files.. or are you looking for something else?

I don`t know any host that could not offer you FTP access without domain name... that`s very cheap... one IP, one account... that`s all!

Have you contacted with anyone?

Any reasons for just ftp access and nothing else ? It sounds very fishy to me.

In case you are only looking for the space over the server with just the FTP access, let me tell you that it is hard to get. But yes if you have the domain name with you then you can get the same quiet easily.

You better need to get in touch with a few hosts which provides you this facility.

There seems to be someone actually offering that
http://www.zftp.com/ftp_hosting.htm

However, if what you are looking for is a remote backup space so that you can store backups then there are a number of places which offers that.

That looks good!!! $5.99 for 500 MB. It seems that this not a bad deal indeed.

But yes it is just FTP hosting.

Just asking a host of your choice could bring on infinitely more options.

You can do way better than 500 MB storage and 20 GB transfer for $5.99/mo.

You can ftp from a web hosting company without a domain by using the ip address directly. Of course the domain might come free with the account anyhow.

The key consideration may not be how much space but how much bandwidth you need. How many people are going to be accessing these 500MB of files and how often? You may need a generous amount of bandwidth as well. Powweb comes to mind for that.

Don't focus on the name of a thing but what it can do. A web hosting ocmpany provides access to files on a server using the TCP/IP stack. You can do whatever you want from there with the service provided within the bounds of the account features.

Pair.com also offers FTP only (but only 200mb). I remembered that because I didn't understand what it was the first time I saw it.

FYI, pair is considered one of the premium providers - with an excellent reputation.

It is actually a complete Web hosting account, it just doesn't let the customer use Telnet/SSH. But it does come with the ability to serve files to visitors via FTP.

Yes this is very true. If its just simple storage or backup space, raidarray.net or bqinternet.com could do alot better
