ServerMatrix

Ok for the people who have servers with them I would like to know what major problem did they have not to long ago? Something about power out or what was it?

What do you rate their support?
How is SLA uptime?
How is Network up time?
How long does it take to set up a server on average?

If you rated them a 1 to 10 what would you give them? Why?

Well I guess it could go in one or the other. Reason I put it here is SM is a web hosting company and looking feedback on the company it self. Though it also could go in the Server forum as well I guess .

The Recent Power Outage was caused by a blown fused in one of their Power Distribution Unit. It is not a common incident and usually network is 100%.

For Support, to me they are par average. I don't use them much because I manage my own servers but when I needed them, they would take anywhere between a few minutes to a few hours to respond. Call if it is ultra urgent.

For Servermatrix, the SLA Uptime for network is 99.9% .

For Network uptime, it is generally 100% apart from scheduled downtime (not that usual too)

On average, I would say you should expect your server to be up within 24 hours upon verification. Generally it can be anytime between 1 to 8 hours. Longer over the weekends or during sales.

I would generally give them a 7.5.

I've used SM since last June. When the power outage occurred, I didn't see any downtime on my server. That or it was too early in the morning and no one noticed. :p

From My experinces:
Support: 9.5

Overall 9.0
- Had a hard drive failure, with the setup I had for their silver management plan, I was called about the server going down, before my monitoring service saw it. Problem was resolved quickly. I've contaced support I think 3, maybe 4 times since I got the server.

I'm happy with sm.

With the outage that happen how long did it take them to fix it? As well did they contact you (email or what ever) when it happen? Or did you have to contact them? Since it does not happen very offten I would figure they contact everyone to let them know what happen?

They posted in orbit (The Planet/Server Matrix support system) to alert everyone, which everyone would have seen when they logged in to have their servers rebooted when they went down. They did get servers back fairly quickly after the power outage and certainly didn't wait for customers to contact them to tell them their servers were down.

Well, I've been with them since August 2003. Technically the longest I've been with any web host.
