Looking at Control Panels
Hi guys,
New to the board.
We are researching different control panels to see if we should change panels, have others to offer.
Wanted to hear/see your thoughts, recomendations etc.
What are the Pros/Cons of the more popular ones out there? Maybe there are some smaller panels that should get some more looking into.
Thanks everyone & look forward to chatting with more of you here!

Hey Tina,
We target dedicated clients (*nix or windows)
But we also take into consideration our VHost clients as well.
Thats the thing, debating if we come up with two seperate solutions or if we just use our in house CP for VHost and then find good CPs for Dedi clients.

Well, if you are looking to only use one across the board that would limit you a little bit, as cPanel does not currently offer a Windows version.

cPanel is what most people prefer although it can have some strange problems at times. Randomly having some things break out of nowhere and stuff like that. But it's still simply the best Control Panel currently out there.

C-panel pro, it has new features to block abusive IPs. I recommend a popular software that potential clients will be familiar with , or heard of.

Hpshere more secure and can integrate billing

You need to have a look at Plesk. It offers both the windows based as well as the *nix based panels. The latest edition for plesk which is Plesk 7.5 will can be the ideal solution for you in this regards.

I agree... Plesk is your control panel.
Easy for new users, win and *nix, stable, a lot of documentation, yours/reseller/domain/user panel...

Direct Admin
Do yourself a favor, and go with Direct Admin. Cpanel breaks without any effort. Plesk is good to go with as well and errors simple to fix. Direct Admin however from what I seen has no major faults.

Nipitpon knows what he is talking about. Direct Admin is easy to install from an admin point of view. Only catch is that if you change OS, you have to purchase a new license for it and remove the old one. If you do decide to go with Direct Admin, the ONLY problem I have ever seen is that Direct Admin will expire, but that is usually only b/c the time clock on your server is incorrect. If you choose Cpanel with freebsd, good luck installing dns and making it work properly. Plesk errors are difficult to fix for a newbie b/c they usualy deal with mysql. Go with Direct Admin, save yourself and your admin a headache.

Anyone ever thought about taking and modifing an Open Source CP and building thier own?
Like Webmin, I have used before, pretty straight forward.
Thing is you have to have an idea of what your doing. What about working and building on something like that?
thoughts?
