The only thing left to do is book the hotel

I was doing some research and have so far read some very negative reviews on the Hyatt Regency Rosemont, more negative than positive.

Anyway, I was wondering if someone who knows the Chicago area could tell me if the Hilton Chicago O'Hare Airport hotel was anywhere near the Hyatt / Convention center?

The Hilton Chicago looks pretty decent, but I suspect that is pretty far away from the convention center, so wouldn't be worth it.

Any comments / feedback welcome...

It's about 10 minutes away and would require some type of transportation. I'm not sure where you saw the negative reviews, but the Hyatt has recently undergone a complete renovation and from everything I've seen (I've been there quite a few times) is a very nice hotel.

The reviews I read were from a year or so ago, so I guess things may have improved, if it has been renovated since then.

We booked into the Hyatt to keep it simple. I plan to do some drinking

Yeah, I ended up just making a reservation at the Hyatt too. As you said, it keeps stuff simple.

I can always change the reservation anyway, as it can be cancelled one-day before arrival without any penalty and they don't charge you until checkout. I figure it will be alright for a few nights though.

The gas is going to be expensive as all other though up there unfortunately! Those trucks will drink up all that gas in no time too

Yeah, but as high as our gas prices are here compared to what we're used to, they're NOTHING compared to the prices of Petrol in the UK.

That's true... I keep forgetting its really expensive over there too I wish it would go back to $1.50 around here... would make life much easier. Those up in NJ and NY are lucky that its not 2.00 yet! It's 2.25+ down here right now

Gas expensive? Well if you call that expensive you certainly don't want to come to Holland.. it's much worse here

After the hostingcon we'll be driving all the way from Chicago to Atlanta.. should be a nice roadtrip

Good lord that is a long drive! Atlanta is an awesome city though. Be sure to check out downtown near the CNN Center and such... The weather will still be real nice too

It's only like 600 miles. We were originally planning to just go by plane but a roadtrip is more fun

I drove 530ish from Chicago to Eastern TN 6 times since last June, back and forth as we were looking at, buying and then moving to our new house, and an Extra trip for our Wedding in TN after we had moved here.. it is a decent trip though... Mouse

true I was tempted to drive from Raleigh, NC to the convention, but I have a new car and I want to keep my warranty for a bit longer, lol You will have fun though! Road trips are the best
