    certificates across domains

    Hello,

I am involved in an app that uses a SSL Java app for ftping within the main scripting app. The popup box asking about verification is labeled as the company that will be distributing the application that has the ftp app embedded in it(this is self-signed, so the alert box pops up about the self-signed cert).

My question is this: if I buy a cert from a normal vendor(not self-signed), will the cert be usable in all distributed versions of the app I am working on, or will I have to purchase a bulk of certs, so I can assign one per domain?

    Thanks in advance
