What to do with RPM files after installation?

I have installed alot via RPM on my servers. Once i deleted one i had a problem right after that i guess i subconsciously associated with the ROM file deletion.

My question is in actuality, does an RPM file serve any purpose at all after installation? If I delete all the *.rpm files will i regret it somehow?

If someone could explain this to me that would be great

There is no need for the rpm after the install . . . .

Only thing is you might wanna keep it around incase something happens to the program and you need to install it down the road, if you that the space, better than hunting it down again.

Should really look into using yum or apt, a lot better way of managing your rpms.
