PowerVPS down...
When I woke up this morning, I noticed my website was down so I created a support ticket.
Here's the messege I got:
Quote:
We are working an issue in our Ashburn Equinix location that is causing
an outage/high packet loss across the network, we will update this
thread when we find out more.
We are sorry about this issue, and we have everyone on this urgent
matter at this time.
This ONLY is causing issues for customers on the BGP mix, the single
transit customers alone are fine, but this email blast is going to all
customers.
We will update you shortly when we figure this issue out.
Regards,
Defender/PowerVPS Support

It's a little fishy that they supposedly sent this email to everyone right after I submitted my support ticket. Sounds more like they sent the email to everyone that complained.
So currently all my websites and my clients websites are now down for the past 3 hours (I don't know if it was down before I woke up) and I'm pretty damn pissed

I got the same message after I submitted a support ticket but glad to see everything is working fine again now.

No conspiracy theories, simple fact, when we determined it was a network wide issue, we sent the email blast, which took about 4 or 5 minutes to determine it was network wide, as it started with packet loss to some subnets and then spread.
And no, we sent it to ALL customers, even those not affected, sorry.

Yep, it is supposed to be up and stable. In events like this check the Providers and Network Outages and Updates section of this forum - usually better and more up-to-date information.

This email went out to everyone, not just the people who complained. I got it in my inbox.

yeah i've been getting a lot of downtime on power vps. every night at 3am everything shuts down, and won't go back online till i submit a support ticket.
they have told me i'm out of disk space (not even close) and that the cron jobs i have that kick off at 5am are causing the crash.
i submitted a replay that this has been 5 days in a row where everything goes down at 3am, and the first night i hadn't even uploaded anything and it went down at 3am.
their reply was for me to use the 'money back guarantee'.
i wasted a lot of time transferring all these files, and i think they are a joke so far. if that's their solution, man that's retarded.

Running a dozen or more high utilization stat scripts all at one time is causing your VPS to run out of resources, you've been told that today after review of your VPS. Your response was that you'll run them at 5am instead of 3am, which doesn't do anything except cause your VPS to run out of resources at 5am instead of 3am.
Charles offered to change your cron jobs to call them one at a time as well. We even offered a clean rebuild of the VPS to clear out any of the crons or anything else you may have uploaded, and start adding accounts back one by one until we can determine the problem.
Your VPS was up all day, you said you could not reach the power-panel which DOES NOT run on your VPS, so we thought you had a network issue with connectivity to our network. IF your VPS is down due to hitting inodes, privmem, and dgram buffers that you've been hitting, you can and still should be able to get to your power panel, which you were not able to get to hence the theory of network problems.
After your name calling, cursing, and extremely rude attitude towards the people trying to help you, yes, Charles did tell you we are trying to help, but if you continued to abuse the support staff you can take advantage of the money back guarantee, because your abusive language and tone to people trying to help you was and is not appreciated.
It wasn't disk space, it was disk inodes you were hitting, you are the one that told us you were not using over 7GB of disk and didn't know how to find out your usage until we showed you the directories that were taking up your disk space.
We are tyring to help, your scripts are causing your VPS to hit limits which causes things like apache, named, etc to fail, you may not want to hear that, but there isn't much more we can do to make you understand that.
PS - don't change all your scripts to execute at 5am like you said you would, you'll run into the same problem, just 2 hours later.

my point is, it will still shut down at 3.
it shut down at 3 before i had uploaded a single file.
and the response of just get your money back upsets me.
it takes a lot of time to upload gigs of files and mysql restores.
we'll see what happens tonight.
my bet is on the 3am shut down regardless.
i mean hey, 4 nights in a row, i have no doubt in my mind you guys will hit 5.

I feel your pain Tom....Jez....You can do without those .
Rch7953 (Great name BTW) .... what are the crons you are running at 3AM ?? You must have set these up ?? Can you not spread them out a bit ??
Also, What Plan are you on ?? What Ram have you available.
Its YOUR VPS ...manage it!
BTW, I'm not with Power VPS...I'm Servint....but both providers seem tops.

Ticket updated, we found a couple issues, one being a FW script, the other is you have a bad IP for your main ns1 server causing all sorts of slowness on resolves.
5:05AM and all is well
Told you we'd work until we got ir fixed!
Now to run your scripts and watch the resources run out
