    Vancouver 2010 Olympic Logo Unveiling

    Well it was just broadcasted.
This logo shows nothing about sports, athletics, Canada as a country...
I'm highly dissapointed. Our concept logo was countless times better than this.

Then again, maybe they wanted to make it easy for 3 year olds to draw.

But I swear, I'd assassinate whoever decided this logo represented Vancouver and Canada.

Seems kind of plain to me.
Patron: I'd like my free lunch please.
Cafe Manager: Free lunch? Did you read the fine print stating it was an April Fool's joke.
Patron: I read the same way I listen, I ignore the parts I don't agree with. I'm suing you for false advertising.
Cafe Owner: Is our lawyer still working pro bono?

My 2 year old recreated it using crayons during the show

[sarcasm]That is by far the absolute greatest logo I have ever seen. I mean wow the skill needed to draw that must have been enormous.[/sarcasm]

It has cultural significance, and that was probably the basis of the decision.

I met the man who came up with the design in the pub I work at, and he had it on a T-shirt as a protest to how it was being veiled in secrecy for months.

I just thought he was drunk.

But that's not the culture of Vancouver...
That logo should be above "Nunavut 2010"

The Sea-To-Sky logo was genuinely Vancouver.

I love how people think that it's symbolic. The fact is that to represent a nation on a global scale, you NEED an image everyone can relate to. Otherwise, the global audience will not understand the purpose of the image. This does not represent winter sport, nor does it represent the multicultural diversity of the nation. Yes, it is a native symbol, but that does not represent the vast majority of the population that is NOT native. Why not choose a symbol that is communally accepted?

    a stack of rocks.

Inuit (Eskimos) would erect them to aid with navigation, and to mark certain important areas.

It's hard to get a communally accepted logo when it's kept from the public and chosen by a leet crew of artists.

In my mind the 2010 Olympics are not just about Vancouver.

Well, it is in B.C. Now, do not get me wrong... I like BC. Nice place to visit.

But... when you consider Pot is tolerated, and heavier drugs are supplied to the citizens by the Govt..... should be no surprise they came up with that.
