Anyone have any suggestions for replacing my host Crystaltech? Iíve been using them for over 2 years but their service ainít what it use to be. I have a simple html and java site with jpg. images for displaying my photography. I only require minimum bandwidth, storage space and email accounts.
Currently Iím having ongoing issue with their mail server. My site email is being dropped or bounced back with Permanent Failure 550 message. Their support tech replied with,
ďWe discovered an issue with the SCSI RAID controller which was not allowing the server to function properly. A new card was installed and all data is safe.Ē
That was almost 12 hours ago and I still am having problems, they currently are telling me that,
ďthe mail server is having intermittent service issues.Ē
Iíve notice that since they were bought out things havenít been the same and apparently are going down hill. It disappointing since they use to be the sterling standard in hosting service.
I haven't worked with CrystalTech recently but in the past their service has always been top notch. Do you have the entire 550 error message? Do you have any other problems with them besides e-mail? I'm still referring people to CrystalTech for Windows/ColdFusion hosting.
1. Your Account was deleted accidentally by the admin or something (email account).
2. Your host do not have RDNS up. If they do not have that, certain mail server would like to know your host's DNS before they say you are clear to proceed with the email send.
So perhaps you might want to consider asking them about that.
Hope you have a good day. Good Luck!

Was this the only issue you've had with them so far ? If the support is responding that is a plus , maybe just a string of bad luck for your host ? Give them some time?
If not, switching is a process which can be painless if you find the right host. We can't directly give you recommendations cause it's against the forum rules. Perhaps if you search around here, or look in a host directory you could find some. The best way is to find a host then do a search here to see if anyone has had problems or reported good feed back.
Best of luck. Always test out support before signing up.

I too am experiencing the poor support from what used to a good host in CrystalTech. Ever since the acquisition, their support time is slow and their downtime is more frequent. I have begun to move some of my clients away to another host.
You can find the host as per your requirements in the Advertisement forums here. You can look around the various offers that placed by the different hosts around and you can select the plan as per your requirement. Also if you want the plan to be designed as per your requirements then you can also place a quote and you will get the appropriate responses.
