  1. * Important Petition

Petition to detect and remove paedophiles from society

Measures taken to protect children from paedophiles should exceed the measures taken to protect the rights of suspected child molesters.
By signing this petition I am demanding mandatory screening of individuals accused of child molest - even in cases that lack evidence.
Screening should include testing for stimulation to child pornography and the most advanced polygraph testing available.
The cost of testing will be a small expenditure in the war to stop sexual abuse of children and will save the government money searching for missing children.
In Canada if someone refuses a sobriety test they are automatically assumed guilty. Considering the severity of the crime in question, the same should apply when testing for stimulation to child pornography.

Please add your name and email address, copy and paste the petition into a new email and send it to as many people as possible. If you are the 500th person please send it to the Governor General of Canada via info@gg.ca and every person you know.

I think if you start the petition on petitiononline.com it will be far easier for those who want to sign it.

I don't see this happening.. so even if a person has lack or no evidence thereof they will have to take this polograph test, which isn't always right. That petition majorly needs to be re-worked...

I am very much for dealing with pedophiles more seriously, I actually feel the death penalty is the correct way for these people to be dealt with but that is another topic.

My suggestion would be for a manditory life sentence for ALL convicted pedophiles. It seems like every week we hear a story of another abused, raped or murdered child and they usually have one thing in common and that is that a previous offender has done it.

It pretty sicking to me that we still let these people roam the streets, As far as I am concerned they should loose the right to be in contact with any other humans other then other offenders.

I tell my wife I think the best thing in the world would be if we got an island somewhere and all countries would ship peodophiles to this island where they remain for the rest of thier natural lives and I don't mean any chushy jail with Cable TV and games like we have here in the US I mean the way prison should be where you actually hate being there rather then a trip back to highschool as it seems people feel about going to prision these days.

I'd love to see the process map on this one

Psychiatrist (holding up photos): does this get you hard?
    Suspect: No
    Psychiatrist: How about this?
    Suspect: No
    Psychiatrist: How about this one?
    Suspect: Maybe a little.
Psychiatrist:Toss this pervo in jail! I'll just hold onto these pictures so no one's tempted to look at them. If anyone needs me, I'll be in the men's room...

Great idea there! Not only does the government get sued for being thought police, you active promote the viewing of child pornography in a federal capacity.

I'm all for locking up pedophiles and throwing away the key, but there's no way I'd ever sign this crack-induced petition.

Maybe you'd refuse it because you're morally opposed to child pornography and you don't want the government forcing you to view it?

    Pretty much in agreement here.
I would love to see mandatory life sentencing for pedophiles but this it the real world not some Tom Cruise movie where we can start arresting people for crimes they haven't comitted yet.

So, you want to force people who have been accused, but not charged nor there being any evidence to be arrested and giving a poly test?

Ive got a better idea, each time someone is accused of a crime, shoot em. Problem solved. Less expensive, not nearly as much time, but is basically completing the original posters framed plan.

Sorry, I fell off the wagon and hit my head earlier this afternoon, right around the same time the vB templating system started giving me problems (I hate that system with a passion). I'm in a pretty foul mood right now. But hopefully you'll agree it illustrates the point well enough!

Ok, no more of that - back to being a grown-up again!

No problem, It is a good name so there are quite a few copycats

Back OT I really wish congress would pass some stricter laws for pedophiles, I think it will happen but I wonder how many hundreds or even thousands of kids need to be abused for the goverment to step in.

To me this is the worst crime possible, I suppose I am a bit more bothered by it then some due to the fact I live in Boston and knew some priests which were involved in the sex abuse scandal here a few years back.

or an even better idea... trying to stop people who are taking pictures/movies of these kids..

You can't stop people from using drugs, but you can limit the amount of drugs by taking out drug dealers.. same premise goes here. Although you won't be able to get ride of it all together very easily (or ever) it will cut down a bit... Need to look some where else than the government on this.. as the U.S gov did quite a bad job on this in the last 30 years.

LoboSolitarious I commend you for standing up and trying to get things started, but there are better ways to get things done.. I don't see this petition going anywhere.. even in Canada.

This is horribly off topic, but why don't we just legalize all drugs and have them be sold by trusted companies?

If cigaretes were illegalized today, dealers would start selling them. And with the dealer selling this product brings a great risk of him slipping other drugs such as pcp into the product he is selling.

If marijuana were sold like cigarettes, there would be less risk of a drug like opium, pcp, or even cocaine making it into that product.

Let people be responsible for their own lives. Everyone already knows about the dangers of all these drugs, and anyone who wants them can easily obtain them.

Slap a warning label on the product, and restrict usage of these drugs to people who are 18+ or even 21+ .

Somewhat in agreement with you here.

But, there's more to it than that.

I agree that pedophiles need to be punished to the maximum degree allowed by law and maybe some laws need to be strengthened and the punishment made stronger or longer.

Ostracizing to a private island for criminals with international supervision and guards, like someone suggested, might be a solution. But, that would be after the standard punishment had been served.

Now, back to the problem at hand.

Perhaps, sometime in the future, researchers will come out with the cause for pedophilia and possibly, real treatments to the point where the pedophole/predator doesn't repeat the crime.

But, there's another question which comes to mind. And it regards the many times that a pedophile or even a rapist resorts to killing the victim.

Is it possible that a pedophile or a sexual predator would not commit the ultimate crime of murdering his victim if he knew that the punishment would not be life in prison or the death sentence? Could life in prison or the death penalty be the indirect cause for some or most of those deaths at the hands of the criminal? The predator or pedophile may be thinking that with very harsh penalties, he might not have that much to lose if he got rid of the victim who could identify him.

It's a double-edged sword, but how do you deal with the conundrum?

Instead of something -- to put it quite bluntly -- insane such as this, why not start a private effort to get "rid" of child pornography where it starts? Maybe start a campaign, spread the word, have people report child pornography if they see it or know somebody who distributes/photographs/collects/views it, etc. It would be far more effective in the short-term as a private initiative, because if you prove that it's useful and that you've gotten very far with it, you can start lobbying the government -- on the local, state, and federal levels -- to do something about it, i.e. stiffer penalties, improved methods for locating child pornography collectors/distributors, etc.

Anything you do now privately will porbably be far more beneficial than would anything the government does at this point, especially because you have control over your campaign and the effort, and you don't have to wait for the bureaucracy, restrictions, and corruption of the government to get somewhere.

I think most pedophiles understand that any prison sentence regardless of length is a potential death sentence. It's the nature of the prison system and the natural hatred for child molesters.

I would endorse the longer sentencing to make sure they never have the chance to repeat their crime.

I may be found grossly distasteful by those participating in this topic, nor do I endorse it in any way, but pedophilia itself -- at least one of the components of it -- are not illegal and are not harmful in any way. Pedophilia is defined as:

The act or fantasy on the part of an adult of engaging in sexual activity with a child or children.

Thus, it is only when the adult goes farther than fantasy that real harm can be done. However, therein also lies the question: can you change to whom you are attracted? Could somebody make you gay? Just the same, could somebody make a gay person straight? I don't think so, and therefore I think any efforts to curb abnormal minds fantasizing about children would be in vain. Sadly, I don't really see much we can do to prevent pedophilia, as there are most commonly no signs beforehand, and if anything, it's just the opposite: the violator will be someone with a family, or someone in a position of authority and control (i.e. a priest or organization leader), or someone else who is relatively distinguished and often has access to and, most importantly, the trust of his victims.

I don't see how anyone can spot the problem beforehand, unless the potential perpetrator admits his or her feelings to a psychiatrist or therapist, who may ultimately be able to prevent him or her from actually acting on his or her impulses, which is obviously the most important thing.

It is not against the law to fantasize; it is, however, against the law to act on fantasies, especially if they involve children or those who don't want your sexual advances.

I have often thought about this question as well, and I think you may be right. However, it also is just as plausible, given the person's original state of mind, that the person is just deranged enough to kill the victim -- possibly even for sexual pleasure; some kind of gross fetish.

I don't think we'll know until we ask a convicted child molester who has actually killed his or her victim -- a very scary and disturbing idea, but it may be the only thing that will help us to better understand their deranged minds.

I might as well drop my 2 cents into this thread.

Everyone is too paranoid. It's wrong to run innocent people through a polgraph machine. I believe that only if someone has done something that is.. pedophiley that s/he should be questioned by police. If the person has violated a child, s/he deserves a harsh prison sentence. If the person does something pedophiley, and s/he admits to it, that person should be put through counceling.

People shouldn't be brought in for pedophile testing. It's wrong for the government to act as thought police.

I also agree with the person who said the term is just a fantasy.. same for people who have snuff and rape fantasies.. both are very graphic and extreme sexual fantasies... usually were messed up as kids.. very sad.. the never-ending cycle of abuse..

The same cannot only be applied to thoughts and fantasies of a sexual nature, but of any nature. I think it is quite fair to analogize sexual fantasies to violent fantasies. For example, without doubt all of us have been extremely angry at some point in our lives, usually as a "result" of someone else's actions (the reason I quote "result" is because it is not the person's actions, but how you respond that so angers you). Some of us have even thought of hurting (or worse, although I cannot claim that I have had fantasies involving killing somebody, at least in any halfway-serious sense) someone else or ourselves. However, the thing that differentiates us from criminals is that we don't actually carry out our fantasies. Thus, this is also the difference between a normal mind and a deranged one.

What most people fail to actually understand and recognize is that thoughts are just that -- the act or an instance of deliberate or extended thinking; a meditation. Therefore, they do not effect harm of any kind on anyone but -- potentially -- yourself, although sometimes they do make us consider oblivion as an alternative, whether through alcohol, drugs, sleep, or death.
