IRM is a Web-based asset tracking and trouble ticketing system built for IT departments and helpdesks. It keeps detailed information, both hardware and software, about each computer and network device in your organisation, as well as a complete history...
phpCollab will do this nicely. It's opensource. You can set it up to work with an internal team and with clients, separating the two. The client aspect is optional.
It cab be found at http://www.php-collab.org.
Hah...I actually do that too for a lot of my extra-curricular activities such as design and IT stuff. But now that CentricCRM has gone to 3.0 with quote managemnet and all I'm going to set it up and see how it works.
I'm looking for something that i can create a list of projects, and prioritize them, and assign them to employees. So they can log in, and see what they need to work on, and track their time (timesheet).
I'm looking at hiring a couple support people, and when there isn't any tickets to answer, they can have projects to work on.
There is www.dotProject.net which we use and is very effective. It isn't a trouble ticket type system though, it is for projects to which you associate tasks. It does record time, amount completed and priority though.
