DNS The Right Way - Conflicting stories

Hello all. I have read just about everything on DNS here on the forum and have also been asking a lot of questions elsewhere and I keep getting conflicting stories about the correct way to set this up. I was hoping you guys can help me out here.

Let's say you have two servers at two different data centers and you want to set up redundant DNS. What is the best way to do this? (Both have CPanel installed)

Also, should each server have an IP that points to one nameserver? For example (IP from first server) and (IP from second server, different data center)?

    This is confusing.

Edit your domain's DNS zone and set to your first server's main IP and set to your second server's main IP. No need to give the nameserver their own IP addresses.

Then set up cPanel's clustering so that server 1 will sync DNS with server 2 and server 2 will sync DNS with server 1.
