    Need hosting!

After the awful WSU/Madrooster experience (money trashed, paid for 1 year and hosted for about 2 months :| ), I need a new hoster.

Can I save my domain name (njean.net) ?

I need a cheap hoster (but with some good feedback!):

    - 200mb+ space
    - 10gb+ bandwidth
    - linux
    - php/mysql
    - unlimited mailboxes
    - unlimited subdomains
    - active customer service

    can you help me out?

    bye!

Do you have control of your domain name or does your former host?

Did you purchase the domain through them? If so then they most likely control it.
Before you do anything, make sure you secure your domain name. Ask your host to transfer the information to you.l

The situation is this: WSU was bought by Madrooster. I paid yearly with WSU but it seems that WSU didn't give my money to madrooster. So madrooster hosted me and njean.net for free for a month, then billed me for a month. I didn't pay the invoice because I wanted a yearly subscription, opened a ticket without answer, and got my space closed (they closed all the former WSU clients' spaces).

I was persuaded to continue with em, now I changed my mind, because of this behaviour.

So they must have my informations, what do I need?

There is may good hosters on this forim. Search around read reviews and make your choice that way.

dont always go with the cheapest as that can be bad in the long run. Email the host you have in mind at diffrent times of the day asking questions and see how long they take to respond.

Remember, reliability doesn't come cheap. Always look beyond the price, ask questions. Ask LOTS of questions to the sales team. Take your time, no reason to chose in under an hour (unless it's absolutely needed)

njean, you will need to contact them and ask them to transfer the domain to you.
Do a whois search to find out where the domain was registered.
    http://centralops.net/co/DomainDossier.aspx

After that open an account with the domain registrar.

For example, if the domain was registered through Enom, open an Enom account (free) and ask them to push the domain to your account.

You should do this before you can consider moving to a new host with this domain.

Tucows won't be of much help. You should contact ev1servers.net first IF your current host won't assist you.

    Hi,
Getting your domain under your control should be your primary focus. A quick email to EV1 should clear things up for you.

EV1 is not a domain registrar. The domain seems to be registered with Tucows. Yes you can contact EV1 for getting the help required as the registration service is provided by them, but the account information for getting the domain under your control will be provided by Tucows only. You can try to contact EV1 but in case you do not get any help then you can contact tucows at there 800 number which is available on there web-site.

This will be very helpful as they can get in touch with the registration service provider directly and get this issue resolved for far quickly enough.

With the two unlimited features you desire, I would recommend Site5's basic shared hosting plan.

In reference to your domain, always ensure you're the admin contact for a domain at the very least.

Now the main focus of this thread is getting my domain saved, because I already found a hoster

thanks to all helped and still help me!

  17. As usual, the truth gets stretched in here. njean has been less than truthful with the facts.

MadRooster.com did NOT buy WSU. In fact, we have absolutely nothing to do with WSU with the exception of saving the users accounts from being deleted by the datacenter because WSU did not pay their bills. If we had not stepped in, njean would have no files to even worry about.

Also, njean was contacted on numerous times and chose not to go on a valid plan - njean just wanted additional free hosting over and above the one free trial month we gave - it's amazing how nobody has any issues when it is free.

While we are sorry to see njean or anyone else go, it is not our business to pick up the tabs of other hosting companies or provide free hosting. We are not a young or small hosting company, so we are familiar with all the games that can be played and the half truth's that can be told.

Now, as for the domain. Let's set the record straight where one upset person does not continue the effort to slander innocent parties. I will assume each of you reading this can do a "whois" - so I ask you to do so and see what results you get - is it MadRooster.com? I don't hardly think so. This user is inexperienced and just looking for someone to blame - while we are sorry for that, we are not going to be the scapegoat. We do not now, nor have we ever, owned or had a thing to do with that domain name. If we did, then it would be in the users name and this entire situation would not be present.

The only two options I see for this user are buy a new name or contact the registrar - there is nothing we can do to assist them. That would be like us asking any of you to change the information on our domains because we asked you to - that is just ludicrous.

hey, what are you saying? explain me.

You acquired all WSU clients, I tried your service as long as you let me do that (about less than a month) and then I decided not to stay with you, because of your higher rates than WSU. I wasn't OBLIGED to stay with Madrooster, and at the first request of payment, I just told you I wanted to find a new host.

In this critical situation, where I lost my money, you shouldn't provide free hosting (I didn't ask you nothing, you gave us a free period of time to get all WSU clients and not to let them get away) but you shouldn't act this rude way. I repeat: I hadn't signed a contract with you, I wasn't obliged to pay.

Then, I am inexperienced, yes, and so? I was searching for help, and I found a very good amount of people who helped me, even if I am a complete noob. I'm not trying to blame anyone, I just say that I'm in a annoying situation.

As usual, the truth gets stretched in here

Ya, the truth is getting stretched. In fact when you requested a payment from me, I opened a support ticket saying that I was searching for a new host. BS #1

This user is inexperienced and just looking for someone to blame
Half truth here, mr. Truth defender! I am inexperienced, yes, but why should I blame you? I'm blaming that *** person of Kevin Mah, is that you? I don't think so.

Uh BTW, you are making yourself such a bad advertising... not very clever!

bye! and thanks again @ who helped me!

  19. You are double talking yourself - lol.

We are not trying to advertise here - do a search and you will see we have never once offered anyone here hosting - not that we have anything against the people here, but we just don't believe in board spamming and contributing to the magnitude of junk posts and hosting. So sorry you see it otherwise.

Like it or not, you claimed we bought this and owned that - it was simply not true. If you do not like the merits of the situation, I cannot change that - but I told it exactly how it is without any sugar coating or false statements.

Anyway, enough said on this... the point has been made and I am not going to get into a half-baked battle of what you think, said, did, or didn't do - it really doesn't matter.

It matters, because you are showing me as a "leecher of free hosting" even if I am not!

I just didn't want to stay with MR not because of bad services or somewhat, only because you have rates and plans I wasn't searching for. That's all. I used all the free time because you told me you had some law trials against WSU because they didn't give you my (and the other former WSU costumers') credits, and maybe you were going to get them in a future. That's what you told me via email.

Obviously you didn't get these credits, and so amen, money trashed but no obliges with anybody.

If you go to http://www.allwhois.com and type 'njean.net', is the person listed in there you ?

if so, then you should be able to use those information through ev1servers.net to make changes to it.

nope, Kevin Mah is the kid who stole my money

Well, since it is in his name, it would probably not be easy to prove that the domain name is yours. You can contest it but I am not sure how far you will go. The option might be to register a domain name directly so you are assured of ownership.

This really seems to be getting worse for you. Here the domain is not registered in your name. This means that it will be way to difficult for you to prove the fact it is in fact registered for you or by you. You will have to get in touch with the company who has registered the domain for you. This is what can be suggested to you for the moment.
