So my host has been down for 24 hours...

Ahh, my website has been down for 24 hours, my host's website has been down for 24 hours.

I haven't been able to check and respond to e-mails, and the e-mails sent to me have all probably bounced.

You would think after this long, the websites would be live again, or at least an explanation would be given.

Anyway, I'm just ranting - I'm not going to give out the name of the host now but if this continues for the rest of the day, I will have to switch.

As Blue27 was smart enough to look the domain up, it was Bubhost.com..

www.bubhost.com seems like it is his web host. I would say, you should move ASAP. Do you have any offsite e-mail address of theirs? Perhaps do a whois and call the number listed?

BubHost is a member here, and thus should be able to -- and, IMHO, has an obligation to -- address and answer your questions.

I believe BubHost is based in Australia, and that that is the founder's name.

That's a Melbourne telephone number (Victoria), so yes.

It would translate to +61 3 9333 6050, or 03 9333 6050 if you were calling from within Australia.

If I remember correctly, Daniel from Bubhost was 14-15 yrs old when he was last active here on WHT (last fall). Someone correct me if I'm mistaken.

Yeah, I thought that too, but didn't say anything in case I was wrong.

It's school holidays in Victoria if memory serves. Maybe he has gone away or is too busy playing with friends to run his 'company'

Thank you all for the replies. I have sent an e-mail to BubHost earlier today, still no reply. This isn't good business practice.

I have found hosting thanks to a gracious WHT member

    Hello, this is Bub Host,

We deeply apologize for what occured. It is totally unacceptable and a refund will be issued to you if you get in touch with us. The server you were on failed, and the OS, WHM, cPanel etc. all had to be reinstalled. The datacentre took far too long, which caused the lengthy downtime.

The server is now working, and your site is now showing up. I am not going to lie or try to cover things up like other hosts sometimes do, I have just come out with the truth.

The Bub Host brand will be closed soon and we will be using the Hostex Australia brand, and you should notice near zero downtime. We now have an extra administrator, and we have gotten rid of a previous admin who may have been responsible for the failure of this server.

We will be setting up two new DNS servers, and a backup mail server to minimize the effects of future problems if they occur.

Once again, I assure you this will not happen again, however if you wish to leave that is perfectly understandable, although we hope you will remember that we have had excellent uptime since now.

    Daniel Santo,

    Hostex Australia (Bub Host)

Have you had these kind of problems before with The Planet?
I am curious. I'm getting another server and doing some shopping.
