From what I've been led to believe, you have to submit your site to Adsense, and either they accept you or they don't. I've never gotten the impression that you had to have so many page views before you would be accepted. I am guessing that Adsense is more interested in the quality and integrity of your site, not how popular it is.
From what I've heard, there are some people who make thousands and thousands a month, while others make less $20. They say it all depends on the quality of the site, the popularity, the topic, and so forth. So there's really no way to predict how much a given site will make. The key, I hear, is to make content-rich sites and play by all the rules (Adsense terms).

That all depends on the keywords and how much the advertiser paid among other factors. You will get clicks for pennies and if you have good keywords you can see clicks that pay over $10. Do a little research to find some good high traffic keywords that relate to your site‘s content.
Depending on the topic and quality of the website, you can usually expect 0.5 to 5% click-thru rate to your Google ads. If each click earns you an average 20c, then you'll need 1000 visitors to make $10.
The more traffic you have the more chance you have to make some money.
Also the colour, size and placement of the advertisements makes a big difference on click-thru rate.
The best solution is trial and error. Find out what works for your visitors.
