I'll probably get the DVD. As someone who grew up with the original this one looks a bit far out there compared to the 'true story' of it all.

Looks decent, at least from the little bit that's in the trailer, but remakes tend to be dissappointments.....

This is one movie that didn't need to be remade, WHY? The original is a classic, this is going to be as pointless as that Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake, you don't screw with a classic like that. I'm getting really tired of Hollywood going to the same tired old well time and time and time again, give us something new and unusual or at least mediocre and different.

I live about 10 Minutes from Amityville (Where the story originated from) The house doesn't even look the same, since the current owners got tired of visitors and they changed the whole facade to not look like a face as it used to.

I think I'll go check it out, just because it's Amityville.

I'm not into horror stuff. Intense thriller is safe but horror - nah!

Why remake a movie that wasn't good in the first place? It was a big hit in 1979, but as horror films go, it's pretty tame. Nothing scary.

Well, that might be a reason to remake it in this case. I agree, the original doesn't stand up to the horror movies that followed it, even those in the same "haunted house" genre. And for a simple reason: nothing happens! Plot summary: the house makes scary noises, people throw up, and the owners move out.

So no doubt the new version will update the story to include at least a sense that people are in danger... if not an actual body count. That what sells tickets to these kinds of films.

Neo3Net, I've been by the house a few times, too. I used to have a few friends in Amityville, and they were very proud of it.

Isn't it odd how people become proud of dubious honors? I remember about ten years ago there was a perverse sense of pride in Bob Packwood and Tonya Harding among people in Portland.

I've actually heard it was decent, but I haven't gotten a chance to see it myself yet. Of course, this was coming from someone who thought Ring 2 was good.. so I'm not sure how much I trust his judgement.

Ha! I had to check that (didn't see her in the ad). Nice to see Melissa George getting some more work.

Yeah, she did a good job on Alias, and cut her teeth on aussie soaps. Bit of a hottie, but not that I notice such things.

She was on 'Home and Away' or "Neighbors', if memory serves me correct. For the non-aussies, they're both pretty popular aussie soaps that have been running for many years.

I watched it on Saturday, it wasn't half bad. There were some scenes that made most of the audience jump.
