Does anyone have suggestions on how to go about getting the word out for webdesign and hosting around your local area?
I mean, what do you say on a flyer? Where do you leave the flyers? Are flyers even a good way to work it?
I live in Naples, FL. I don't know if any of you know about this place but it's a bunch of rich people. The population is expanding tremendously because everyone want's to live here. New stores and shops have been opening up around me for years now. I believe this is a good market to tap into, I just don't know how.
CrazyTech - Yeah, I think I am going to try that. But what do you put on a flyer that would entice the average business owner? Should you show example pictures of sites that your company has designed and hosted?
Bashar- Radio huh? How much did that run for? And how good was your response? What type of radio station?
Heres my plan as a web host for abtaining large local buisnesses. I don't print flyers, or nothing at all of those circumstances. I simply go in, and ask if there company would be interested in becoming known on the internet. Most of the time, you will see shocked faces because they never even thought about it. I'll sit down tell them how it will be done, what all they can accomplish from it, etc, etc. I give them a plan. I build there website, from scratch. All of the template, etc etc. I then host the website for you, and buy your company domain which will be youcompany.com and you can have your own email addresses at your domain. I give them a price anywhere between $450-$650 first time fee. Including, 3 months hosting, domain bought 3 years, and webtemplate. I update there template every 3-4 months, and again charge them $450-$650.
For a large buisness, this isn't much money. I have already aquired 2 large buisness in my area. You know what I pay for my server?, $0.
Make it a solid goal to go out everyday and call on at least 5 places of business. This should take you no more than an hour or two. Talk with the person in charge and give them a brief introduction as to what you can do for them and don't try and oversell them at that point, just give them some printed/cd material to look over and smile and shake their hand and tell them you will be in touch and if they have any questions to just give you a call.
This sounds a little basic but guess what, it works. You will get some doors slammed in your face but if you go to the 5 per day, that equals about 150 places per month and if you pickup a handfull of clients per month, it is well worth it because then they are bragging to their business friends about their new website and of course your business name will come into play.
This plan takes serious dedication but I did this personally and picked up about 75 clients my first year not to mention meeting alot of influential people in my community.
Again, this is just based on what I was willing to put into it and this plan might not be for everyone. Good luck!
