Exim setup for non local domain
I'm running a VPS with
WHM 9.9.9 cPanel 9.9.9-S15
RedHat 9 i686 - WHM X v3.1.0
Exim 4
I have eGroupWare installed & need it to send emails (for calendar appointments) with a sender domain other than one of the domains located on the server.
As it stands at the moment exim rejects the mail because the 'sent from' domain isn't in the local_domain setting in exim.conf (or I think that's why it doesn't work anyway).
In exim.conf I have the line:
domainlist local_domains = lsearch;/etc/localdomains
I guess I could just add the required domain to /etc/localdomains but I'm not sure that's the best, or correct way to do it or whether that would cause any other problems.
Any advice on the correct, best, easiest way of adding this external domain with permission to transport mail through Exim?
Many thanks.

Let me get this right first,
You are hosting the domain ( ie, domain.com and www.domain.com or subdomain.domain.com ) on your server, and mail is handled elsewhere ? Or do i have it wrong ?
if the above is the case, is the domain also listed in /etc/remotedomains ? If not, add it, and run /scripts/mailperm from shell prompt.
