TurnkeyResellers update

When a host has problems (which most invariably do at some point) its difficult to know whether to stay or flee. I was faced with that situation a couple of months ago when TurnkeyResellers (a host I had often strongly recommended on WHT) suddenly hit problem after problem after problem...

I and several others posted some criticism of TurnkeyResellers on WHT at that time, and it now seems fair to post my personal update on their progress since then and the current state of things.

The first huge improvement has been in support response. I live in Japan so my daytime is typically US night-time; even so my tickets are typically answered in minutes and there is often an admin on live-chat.

The second huge improvement has been in the quality of support - things seem to get setup properly as well as quickly.

The one thing I am happy to say has not changed is Robert's commitment to his customers - which was the reason I decided to stay with Turnkey. Having been burned by hosts that shutup shop the moment the going gets tough, it makes a pleasant change to deal with someone who says he is going to do something and actually does it.

I cannot comment on uptime because I do not monitor my sites using siteuptime but I will start doing that as I think Turnkey has turned the corner and I am now going to start using my account there in earnest.

I just hope they don't hit another problem :-)

Glad to hear things are working out for you.

For monitoring your website, might I suggest http://host-tracker.com/ as they offer FREE monitoring?

I've been using them for a little while, and I know one of my clients has (he IM'd me a link to his uptime report along with a congratulations on the good uptime). It seems fairly reputable.

Good luck in the future, and I hope things continue to go well for you

WebOnce - I think he's going with SiteUptime already. A good choice in my opinion

Glad to hear you're satisfied with your web host. It's nice to know that Turnkey is faced in the right direction and has their priorities oriented towards the customer.

I left Turnkey not because they weren't committed to their customers, but due to their apparent inability to cope with the environment that resulted from their business model.

You've been burned?

I was flame grilled by robert when I had a reseller account with him. Tech support was disappointing and Modernbill couldn't gain access to WHM to create accounts.

I stumped up the sum for a Secure certificate only to find that it was pointless staying with Turnkeyresellers because I couldn't do what I wanted. When quizzed about why MB couldn't access WHM correctly support went very quiet after refusing an offer to install WHMauto (which not only didn't work but would not allow me to expand into other control panels). By this time I was really angry after discovering that I could not use my secure certificate on another server due to mismatching CSR keys etc. Robert was a reseller for the Certificate issuing authority I used and he made money out of my certificate which I could no longer use because I was unable to use my account properly.

After deciding to cancel the account and go with VPS i was then shocked to find that I couldn't even cancel as suddenly all the email address's had changed, the new ticket system wouldn't let me create an account and nothing else was answered.

Don't get me wrong Turnkeyresellers offer the best priced reselling solutions I've seen but only if your happy to setup accounts manually.

Eventually we came to a mutual agreement but personally I wouldn't go back to a host who's already troubled me once.

Different people have a different experience with the same host. But it is the service which matters atlast. It is important to get adapted to the changing situation in order to survive in the present day world in order to remain perfect.

I am happy to hear that ChrisBowd got the things going from Turnkey and dissappointed to hear a totally opposite review about the same company from Turboz. But reviews do mark a great importance to survive.

Thank you very much, Chris, for the kind comments ! This is very much appreciated

There has been quite a lot of changes these last months for Turnkey : a new owner, Tom, a new support staff (including me), a new datacenter where we are currently moving all existing servers to our own servers (IBM xSeries 345 - Dual Xeon 3.06 Ghz with Hyperthreading - 6 GB RAM - SCSI Hard Disk Drives), and still Robert working with us.

And more news coming soon...

We are all working hard to make our customers happy, improve the uptime and reliability, offer a fast and efficient support... etc etc.

Turboz, I'm really sorry you had such issues and we would be more than happy to offer you 3 free months if you ever wish to try our services again.

Gary, Chris is reviewing the actual Turnkey. I think Turboz' bad experiences take place late 2004.
