Thumbs down

Netsender.net

Bought a small shared plan from these guys to put a script to monitor my own servers and provide a place for our clients to go incase of a network problem so they know what's going on.

Set-up took around 12 hours, done manually. I got the information i needed, no problem in that.

Ad on WHT and on the site it said Fantastico is provided. I wanted to install a blog from Fantastico.

cPanel didn't have fantastico listed. I contact customer support and ask why Fantastico wasn't available. They said:

Quote:
Apologies

Fantastico is only available on Reseller and Business Packages. Not Home Ones.

Regards
Took more than 2 hours for reply (tolerable).
Sent a reply asking why they didn't state this in the first place. 5 hours...still no reply.

Considering I run a webhosting company as well, i dont see how they can just outright lie to get customers. Clear misleading advertising (i'm pretty sure they knew perfectly well what they were doing), long wait in simple response and they outright lie.

Not a webhost i would recommend...

Well, for plans that start .99 cents a month - you really can't expect much.

If you are running a web hosting business, then why are you on penny pincher shared plan?

I also don't see anywhere that it even offers fantastico...correct me if I'm wrong.

Wow, $0.99 a month, transaction fees will nearly take half of that. How can any make a profit off 50 cents worth of revenue from an account a month. One support ticket and your profit margin is gone

Re: Netsender.net

Like i have said a million times before, you get what you pay for! They probably operate that site partime and have a regular job that pays the bills. What kind of support where you expecting forn 99 cents a month.

I'm not penny pinching. I'm not expecting the world from these guys. I'm not expecting 24hr support. I havent even asked for a refund or anything. I saw the ad on WHT that said Fantastico is included.

The plan comes with 1 mysql, a few mb of space and 1GB bandwidth. I think of 99cents a month, its only slightly under priced.

What bothers me is that the company just simply lied. Thats the point i was making. Regardless of the price.

a1nerd. I agree with you that you get what you pay for. But im not commenting on the support. I didnt say the support was bad or good. If they say they offer something and then say no after i signed up, then i don't see that as ethical. Im really emphasising on the lie and that's all. Not the support or anything.

The time wasted on signing up etc. and setting things up and the lie is what bothers me. Nothing else.

Spikez, its clearly obvious you have never heard of being efficient or effective. You cleary didn't read my post and response had not much to do what i was stating. I don't know about you, when on my site i say i operate the company on strict efficiency, i intend to stick with it. Next time you respond to what i say, take the time to find out what im actually speaking about instead of letting your ignorance getting the better of you.

Netsender trouble

I'm having some troubles with netsender too... I'm on a reseller package with them - and my site's been down for THREE DAYS because of hardware fault on netsenders end. They haven't sent out information to the users about this. All I got when I asked (more than 10 hours after the crash) was this:

Quote:
The server in queustion has suffered a hardware fault, and the database
are in the proccess of fixing it.

Regards

Matt Packer
Netsender
Nothing about when I can expect my site to be up or anything like that. I mean, am I supposed to wait for netsender to order a new server, or something? Nor is there information if my db was affected negatively in any way...

Quote:
Support is available 24 hours a day, most queries are solved immediatly
Not quite

Their support forums are down to, which should be located on netsenderDOTukDOTcomSupport tickets=down.

If anyone has any insight as to what is going on, please let me know. My users are mailing me constantly (well, the ones who have my alternate addresses that is - the one related to my netsender site is hosted by netsender and is therefore DOWN ) wondering what the h*'s up, and I've got nothing to tell them...
