AIM/ICQ went down recently too...

Hope this isn't someone's idea of a joke

-----
AOL Guy: I bet I can knock down the whole AIM network!
MSN Guy: Oh yea? Let's see it then!
AOL Guy: Okay done.
MSN Guy: Dang... good job. Now I have to follow suit - let's see who can keep it down the longest. Deadline is on April 1st.
AOL Guy: Deal!

The Microsoft Network is not down. However, you may only utilize the Microsoft Network if you are using a legal copy of Microsoft Windows XP with SP2.

Please note that with every attempt to connect to MSN, you authorize us to view private information regarding your computer such as the cd key you used to install Windows with. If this key is not valid, you will be rejected from the Microsoft Network.

This is an implementation of what will soon be seen through Microsoft Update, in an effort on behalf of Microsoft to stop software piracy.

Microsoft will be withdrawing all support for those using the Macintosh Computers, including IE 7, Outlook, MSN and more, in an effort to focus on security and development for pcs.

and if you need support on Non Microsoft Products, you would be charged and that would be one time installation cost and actuals as per usage.

I have a legal copy of Windows XP SP1 !
You guys have not pursuaded me that SP2 is stable enough yet and so I have uninstalled it from my machine.
Are you saying soon it will be obligatory to install SP2?
If so, that worries me, as SP2 caused all kinds of problems on my computer and made it come to a grinding halt on many occasions.
If SP2 becomes obligatory , I and i'm sure many others will look to an alternative OS.
I don't care what marketing stratagies "you" deploy.
Furthmore, if the MSN network is not "down" then why can I and many others not login to MSN messenger. (Many of which do have SP2).
It is not a problem on my side as the MSN network status page says - "Service Unavailable", and so "your" own website is contradicting you.
Please explain this as i'm sure many of us WHT'ers want to know!

Microsoft are also going to remove AOL, ICQ, and any file with "linux" in its filename everytime you run MSN Messenger. Muhahaha.

Anyway, yep, it's down again. Becoming quite regular now - need to chat? MSN is down!
