Attracting Customers???

I thought about emailing web designers and offering my hosting services. Has anyone had any luck doing this?

That's something I've been experimenting with, but not via email, I just sent out my first batch by postal mail two days ago, as sort of a trial balloon.

We tried this a while back, with no luck. We found that 8 of 10 times, the web developers were already in bed with a ISP of sorts, or had thier drinkin' friends that owned a ISP and that they were getting substantial kickbacks from the ISP for refering them.

This was just in our area, might be different elsewhere.

I think the best way for any business to get customers is to advertise... "Gotta spend money to make money" is the saying

Any particular site you think hosts should advertise with?

Thanks for implying, what your implying, thought its not what I meant. :X

Advertise where you get results. One way to find out and that is trial and error. For a new host I'd recommend some low cost spots on hosting directories, on search engines (PPC and AdWords on Google) and banners. Test everything out and track everything well.

Once you find the few sites that work well for you stick with them

I've been in ads for a pretty long time -- thats the best way to do it hands down...
