F5hosting or Akashik?

Hi there!

I'm trying to decide between two hosts, F5hosting and Akashik. I've heard good things about both on this forum, just wondering which might be better in terms of reliability and low downtime.

I have a pretty small retail website that I don't expect will have an enormous amount of traffic, so I don't need all the bells and whistles, just a basic plan.

Thanks for your advice!

Michelle

Hi,
Greg from Akashik posts on here and on other hosting forums and is regarded as a fine place to host your sites.
I don't know much about F5 so you may want to do a search on here.

I don't know about F5 but Akashik (run by Greg, the sage ) is one of finest host out there. You won't go wrong with Akashik.

Greg of Akashik is well respected in hosting circles. I have conversed with him many times outside WHT and find him to be very knowledgeable and humorous.

A few days ago, I got a look at the stats of one of his newer servers and it had been up for almost 100 days straight.

Every host will experience some downtime (or else we would all advertise 100% uptime).

The load averages on the server were...
load average: 0.09, 0.06, 0.01

Good luck to you,
Lamar

I don't have any experience with F5, but Greg (Akashik) has done some web design work for me in the past and I'll most likely ask him to do some more for other sites. It doesn't have much to do with hosting, but I thought I'd let you know of the positive experience I did have with him.

Greg stood me up once for a coffee meeting on the Sunshine Coast, so I would immediately question his reliability...

Just joking. :-) Heard plenty of good things about his hosting though.

Cheers

Gary

I'll toss in my hat for F5hosting Michelle as I am a client of theirs. I suggest that you go to there forums (something I don't think Akashik offers) and view some threads and get an idea as to how you would be treated by F5 and it's fellow clients.

You can also contact them on AIM if you'd like or send them an email and see how fast they respond. This info can be found on the F5hosting site.

I have no experience with Akashik.

I agree.

Both of the companies have very positive feedback from their customers, so just talk to them and see who is more suitable for your site.

Thanks for all the replies! I really appreciate your opinions. I think I'm going to go with Akashik because he was recommended the most and I like the fact that he personally posted a response to my inquiry.

Btw, I really like this forum, I've been checking it out over the past several weeks as I've been researching different hosts, and it's a great resource.

Thanks again!

Michelle

I think you have made a good decision. I have worked with Greg from akashik.net quite a bit, and I can attest that you will certainly have a pleasant experience.

OOPS...guess I found this thread a little too late ...I can assure you, Michelle, that Greg will treat you right. I have spoken to him on IM a few times and he is always quite the gentleman. Thanks you for considering us!
