Hi,
After my episode earlier today i screwed up mysql and php and im thinking i may need to re-install it. Would i need to uninstall all the file for these two and start again or just over write them?.
If i have to uninstall them how do i do this?.

I guess, you would be fine with just over writing the old ones. Un-installing on Linux is done by, deleting the files manually. There isnt any uninstall program like windows

http://www.kchat.org/phpinfo.php - When i go there all seems ok.
When i try changing the mysql password or login to mysql as root it tells me there is a problem with -'/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock'
So im guessing mysql is what has gone wrong?. However when i try re-install mysql i always get a server hangup. I used to get the server hangup when i was changing the time and stuff But that hangup seems to of vanished.
Any ideas?.

Do:
killall mysql
and
killall safemysqld
Then start mysql again and the problem should be fixed.

Try shutting mysql down and then restarting using the following
/usr/local/mysql/share/mysql.server stop
then
/usr/local/mysql/share/mysql.server start
If this doesnt work, give the server a hard boot.

Do you have Plesk?
If so, the mysql root logon and password are the same as that of the plesk admin logon.
If not, try the logon info to ftp to your server, not root.
UIf none of these work, your server supplier should give you the mysql root logon information.

I think he is on a Raq, and Plesk doesnt work on a Raq, so he isnt using Plesk
Anyways, I think you should contact 4webspace [is it] and find out what is wrong. Coz after rebooting your server, it should have worked.
