Looking for reviews on NTT/VERIO

Hi all,

I'm looking for some reviews on NTT/VERIO (www.verio.com). Can anyone shed some light? Are they a good company? Assume that I'm not paying for it so that bit doesn't count, I just need quality (paid for by the company I'm with so that's fine).

Thanks

Yeah... I don't see a lot other than people complaining about the pricing (which isn'[t too bad IMHO) but nothing about service.

Hi,

I haven't ordered yet, but it'll be the Hosting 3000 plan (Unix, 1500MB disk, 40GB data transferm @ $29.95/Month.

http://www.verio.com/hosting/shared/plans/3000.cfm

I've been in touch with their sales department and they've ensured me of a good upgrade route to their VPS and dedicated solutions in the future (which are admitedly quite a bit more expensive than most providers, but if the service is good on this shared account then I'll definitely be staying).

Will keep you updated. I'll probably be ordering in about 6 hours from now.

Hi GTX,

We're using NTT/Verio as one of our major uplink in our company. Our datacenter located in Hong Kong and we can a very fast connection throughout Asia and quite nice speed to other parts in the world. I have no hesitation to recommend NTT/Verio here

Recommending them for Asia-based transit compared to US-based hosting is like the company you used to move your car cross country to move your servers too..It's two completely different things, for instance, NTT/Verio has been losing hold of the US transit market for quite awhile now...I would not be suprised if the hosting segment of their US business is going the same path..

Hi inscyber,

Thanks for that, glad you're happy with them but as nickn rightly pointed out, it looks like you're using them for a very different purpose to me. But perhaps you have some comments on the support, etc., they provide?

Thanks

Greetings:

We started with NTT/Verio back in 1996, and became a partner a few years later.

At one point in time we had all of our business with them writing checks to them monthly for over $25,000.

Since the year 2000, Verio has been slipping where it counts in the small to medium business area.

2005 to date has been the worse year to try and get any form of prompt email support from them.

While we still have servers with NTT/Verio, we can no longer, in good faith, recommend them to anyone.

Thank you.

Hi GTX,

Well, it's really hard to comment an international firm, IBM maybe good in US but not neccessary in China, right?

As for Verio to be our uplink provider, whenever we have problem, say, DDOS attack, we call up Verio at once and then it could probably fix within 5 minutes. The technican here is also very helpful with a 24 hours support. On many occasions I called them up at midnight and they're still very professional.

Greetings GTX:

For the most part (approximately 95%) we moved to co-location back in 2002.

We currently rent servers with NTT/Verio ($1,500 per month approx; a far cry from the $25,000+ per month we used to have with them) and The Planet. But that's a low portion of our servers; most of which are co-located.

Thank you.

NTT/Verio is probably the best in Asia besides UUNet/MCI, <31ms to China BJ from HK compares to Rache's 698ms.

To the State <220ms on average, <300ms to EU, <10ms to TW and <50 to JP from HK.

Try to use VR to prove, you will be amazed! Don't know much about NTT/Verio is N. America since it's really a Japanese company afterall.
